A unique approach to historical documentation In this rare annual release, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah adopted a distinctive research approach. He gathered an extensive collection of Portuguese, Dutch, and British manuscripts, which he meticulously sorted, classified, and translated. The result is a highly reliable source that serves as a vital reference for researchers studying the region's history and its political, economic, and social context during that period. Sultan of Historic Encyclopedia Also on display is the Sultan of Historic encyclopedia, comprising four volumes that delve into the history of Oman based on well-documented historical references. His Highness leveraged his strong academic foundation in history, geography, and archaeology, as well as his hands-on experience in document research. The encyclopedia draws heavily from his personal collection of rare books and exclusive references. Recently released works Al Qasimi Publications is also highlighting newly published titles, including the play The Blood-Stained Robe and Selections from the Jirunnameh , among other works that span various fields of knowledge. 250 books representing 81 titles The publishing house is presenting over 250 books at the fair, representing 81 different titles written by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. These works cover genres such as history, fiction, and theater. The Doha International Book Fair this year is marked by strong participation from major publishing houses across the Arab region—particularly from the Gulf—as well as international publishers.

Muscat – Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and UAE Supreme Council Member, visited Muscat International Book Fair – themed 'Cultural Diversity: A Treasure of Civilisations' – on Thursday. During his visit, Sheikh Qasimi signed copies of his latest historical work – The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman: Annals of History 1497 CE – 1757 CE – published by Al Qasimi Publications. The new series comprises 21 volumes in Arabic and English. Each volume ranges from 400 to 600 pages, with the complete set exceeding 10,500 pages. The work includes 1,138 original documents – letters, reports and manuscripts – sourced from archival centres around the world. Each volume records events year by year, supplemented by comprehensive indices, detailed footnotes and references. In addition to official documents, the series features previously unpublished manuscripts authored by Portuguese writers. Sheikh Qasimi described the series as a major historical record, documenting critical developments in the Sea of Oman over a 260-year period. It captures the era when Portuguese fleets expanded their presence towards India, chronicling key events and battles of the time. The series is based on extensive research. Sheikh Qasimi collected Portuguese, Dutch and British manuscripts, which were sorted by year, translated from Old Portuguese into Modern Portuguese, and subsequently into English and Arabic.

The book highlights significant historical events that occurred in the Sea of Oman over 260 years, documenting battles and including complete works and rare publications by Portuguese authors published for the first time. Additionally, Al Qasimi Publications will present several other works, including "The Pawned Dagger" and "Selections from the Jurn Nameh," covering critical historical events like the British and Persian occupation of Qeshm, the Siege of Hormuz, and the Persian occupation of cities along the eastern coast of Oman. The "Sultan of Histories" encyclopedia, in its four volumes, and the play "The Cloak Stained with Blood," added to His Highness's collection of theatrical works, will also be featured, along with over 90 titles in history, investigation, literature, and theater. Moreover, they will present the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language, the first of its kind, comprising 127 alphabetically arranged parts, marking a unique cultural achievement for the Arab and Islamic world and a global Arabic contribution to Sharjah's accomplishments. During his visit, on Thursday, His Highness signed his most recent historical publication, The Portuguese in the Sea of Oman: Annals of History 1497 CE – 1757 CE, published by Al Qasimi Publications. Accompanying Delegation and Dignitaries The Ruler of Sharjah was accompanied by a distinguished delegation including: Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, His Excellency Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, His Excellency Mohammed bin Nekhaira Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality, Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, along with several senior officials. Touring the Fair and Engaging with Cultural Institutions His Highness toured the halls of the fair, which features 674 publishing houses from 35 countries.
