Edmonton to have Pride Parade for first time since 2018
For the first time since 2018, Edmonton will have a Pride Parade this summer.
'After a hiatus, we're thrilled to bring Edmonton's Pride Parade back to city streets this summer,' said Trevor Watson, executive director of the Edmonton PrideFest Association, in an announcement Wednesday morning.
The Edmonton Pride Festival will take over downtown Edmonton Aug. 22-24, including a 18+ concert and party on Friday, the parade on Saturday, and a brunch sing-along on Sunday with drag queens Alaska 5000 and Willam.
'We're looking forward to showing up loud and proud to celebrate our 2SLGBTQ+ friends, family, coworkers and community members. This is a chance for Edmontonians to come together as a community and celebrate the electrifying experience of Pride,' Watson said.
Organizers of the 2019 parade cancelled the event amid calls for increased inclusivity from community groups. Smaller Pride celebrations have been held since then.
