Real Madrid Women Shock Barcelona With Historic Win
Real Madrid stunned Liga F leaders Barcelona with a 3-1 win at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. This was the first-ever victory for Madrid over their arch-rivals, putting an end to a 18-match winless streak in El Clasico. Barcelona, who dominated Liga F for the past five seasons, were dealt a crushing blow in front of 36,000 fans. Despite leading the table, their unbeaten run was cut short, and they now sit just four points clear of Madrid in the race for the title. 🏁 @FCBfemeni 1-3 @RealMadridFem ⚽ 41' @AFerrer_10⚽ 61' Graham ⚽ 87' @ItsCarolineWeir ⚽ 90+6' @ItsCarolineWeir 👉 @Emirates — Real Madrid C.F. (@realmadridfem) March 23, 2025 Madrid took the lead just before the break with Alba Redondo. Barcelona levelled the score when Caroline Graham Hansen netted in the 67th minute. However, controversy soon followed as Barcelona's Jana Fernandez potential goal was ruled out for offside, despite appearing onside. With no VAR, the decision stood. But the Madrid squad was not to be denied. Caroline Weir scored twice in the dying minutes – first in the 87th minute and then in stoppage time – to seal a historic victory for the visitors. Madrid's victory is a huge turning point for the club, especially after their humiliating 5-0 loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana two months ago. They are now in prime position to push for the league title, while Barcelona must regroup to face Wolfsburg in the Champions League with 4-1 advantage in the first leg. For Madrid, it's the perfect confidence boost ahead of their own Champions League quarter-final game with Arsenal, where they lead 2-0 from the first leg. Tags: FC BarcelonaLiga FReal Madrid

Real Madrid Femenino beat Barcelona for first-ever Clasico win at 19th attempt
Real Madrid Feminino made history on Sunday by beating rivals Barcelona in a Clasico for the first time at the 19th attempt. The 3-1 away victory saw Madrid close the gap to Barcelona at the top of the table to four points, keeping the Liga F title race alive as Madrid seek their first league title in the women's game. Barcelona had been victorious in all 18 previous meetings entering Sunday's fixture. Alba Redondo — who joined Madrid from Levante in July 2024 — opened the scoring in the first half before Caroline Graham Hansen levelled things up after the break. Jana Fernandez thought she had given Barcelona the lead in the 81st minute but the goal was controversially ruled out. Alexia Putellas' ball into the box came off the head of Madrid defender Yasmim, before Fernandez ran in behind the defence to fire home. The goal was disallowed however, and the bewildered Barcelona players surrounded referee Olatz Rivera Olmedo in protest. Substitute Caroline Weir then put Madrid ahead six minutes later before the Scotland international scored her second to seal the win deep into stoppage time as the weather worsened at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium. The result caps off a memorable week for Madrid after defeating Women's Super League side Arsenal 2-0 on Tuesday to put them on the brink of their first ever Champions League semi-final. Alberto Toril's side return to action with a trip to London on Wednesday where they take on Arsenal in the quarter-final second leg. Barcelona will also have one eye on the Champions League semi-finals after comfortably beating Wolfsburg 4-1 on Wednesday. They play the second leg against the German side on Thursday.
