Rayo Vallecano wins 1-0 at Las Palmas to leave home side deep in relegation trouble
MADRID (AP) — Las Palmas missed a chance to grab vital points in its relegation fight when it lost 1-0 at home to Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish league on Friday. Álvaro García smashed the winner in off the underside of the bar 20 minutes into the second half to leave Las Palmas third from bottom with 32 points, three points behind Alaves immediately above. Leganes is 19th in the 20-team top tier with 31 points. Both Leganes and Alaves have a game in hand. Valladolid has already been relegated and two more teams will join it. 'Right now, it's frustrating,' Las Palmas midfielder Alberto Moleiro told broadcaster DAZN. 'We always give it our all, and we have to keep going. There are three (games) left and we're not going to give up.' The win lifted Rayo into seventh and the Europa League places. It sits a point above Celta Vigo and three points clear of Osasuna and Mallorca, all of whom have a game in hand. ___ AP soccer:

Celta Vigo and Las Palmas share eventful draw in La Liga
VIGO, Spain (AP) — Las Palmas is still waiting for its luck to turn. The Canary Islanders drew with Celta Vigo 1-1 in La Liga on Monday in a match where their goalkeeper was taken off on a stretcher and a late winner was disallowed. Advertisement The club is without a win in 12 games and sits second from bottom on the table. Wearing an unfamiliar black strip for the first time, Celta took the lead seconds before halftime when Alfonso González cut inside from the left and curled a beautiful shot into the far corner from the edge of the box. However, Alberto Moleiro drew Las Palmas equal within three minutes of the restart. Then Fabio Silva had the ball in the net with 72 minutes gone only to see it disallowed for offside. The decision was a blow to Las Palmas, which was seeking a first win since just before Christmas. To compound its misfortune, goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was injured in the first half after clashing with Borja Iglesias. Celta, meanwhile, was unbeaten in seven and in eighth place. ___ AP soccer:
