SEMPORNA: Healthy and able-bodied retired police and army personnel should be appointed as hostel wardens in schools nationwide in a bid to curb bullying incidents. Exco of Muafakat Mara Malaysia (Borneo Affairs), Aldam Abdullah, said the suggestion is timely, as former security forces personnel are known for their discipline, leadership, and experience in safety protocols and emergency response. 'Their training and background in managing security and crime prevention make them ideal candidates to monitor students in hostels and help prevent bullying cases,' he said. Mara students affected by power cuts due to unsettled bills

TAWAU: The issue of electricity supply disruption affecting 654 individuals, including students at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Sandakan, due to unpaid bills, necessitates intervention from the State Government. Muafakat Mara Malaysia Exco (Borneo Affairs), Aldam Abdullah (pic), said this matter requires government attention as it impacts the learning environment and comfort of students, educators and administrative staff. He said without an immediate resolution, MRSM fears electricity cuts could happen at any time due to repeated and long-standing arrears. He also urged Sabah Electricity (SE) to take strict action against SEH Power Sdn Bhd instead of cutting supply in the Sandakan Education Hub, which involves MRSM Sandakan, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kolej Vokasional and Polytechnic.
