Rangers 1B Jake Burger to return from quadriceps injury
August 8 - The Texas Rangers activated first baseman Jake Burger from the 10-day injured list Friday. Burger has missed 20 games since being placed on the injury list on July 13 with a left quadriceps injury he sustained two days earlier while running out a grounder during the top of the fifth inning in a 7-3 win over the Houston Astros. Burger, 29, is batting .228 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs in 75 games this season. In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers' Minor League Player of the Year in 2024, Osuna has had two stints with the Rangers this season (May 25-July 20, Aug. 2-6), batting .158 with one home run, one double, 5 RBI and 13 walks in 34 games. --Field Level Media

Rangers activate Burger, option Osuna
The Texas Rangers have activated first baseman Jake Burger from the 10 day injured list, per To make room for Burger on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna to AAA Round Rock. Burger went on the injured list over the All Star Break with a quad strain. He has been on a rehab assignment, and went 4 for 6 last night and was a triple shy of the cycle, so I guess they decided he was ready to come back. I would assume that he will be the regular first baseman, though with Josh Smith excelling, Burger could end up in more of a platoon role with Joc Pederson at DH. Osuna was called up when Evan Carter was placed on the injured list and appeared in the last five games the Rangers played, though two of those were late game appearances. In those five games he was 1 for 9 with a walk and a HBP.

The 22-year-old Carter went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts during Friday night's loss to the Seattle Mariners, and had gone only 4 for 34 since the All-Star break.

The 22-year-old Carter went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts during Friday night's loss to the Seattle Mariners, and had gone only 4 for 34 since the All-Star break. He also missed time this season because of a right quad strain. Carter is hitting .238 with four home runs and 21 RBIs this season. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy lamented the loss of Carter ahead of Saturday's game, especially in conjunction with third baseman Josh Jung continuing to miss time because of calf soreness. 'Yeah, it's really incredible,' Bochy said. 'You look at the number of injuries. I mean, it hasn't stopped.' Osuna, 22, has appeared in 29 games for the Rangers this season, hitting .164 with one home run and five RBIs. Additionally, first baseman Jake Burger, who has been sidelined since July 12 because of a left quadriceps injury, was sent to Double-A Frisco to begin a rehab assignment. ___ AP MLB:
