Since retiring from football, he has occupied various roles. Indeed, he briefly served as Pisa's sporting director before taking over Serbia's U21 squad. Despite commencing his coaching career with back-to-back wins, he then lost three internationals on the trot. However, after only five games in charge, he decided to cut short with the national team and return to Giuseppe Meazza.
