'Coolie' trivia: Anirudh Ravichander REVEALS the origin of ‘Alela Polema' in trailer; says it was pure gibberish before fans found Greek meaning

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) With just days to go before 'Coolie' hits theatres on August 14, one catchy element from its trailer has sparked curiosity among fans — the phrase 'Alela Polema.' Music director Anirudh Ravichander , known for his stunning compositions and unconventional style, has now revealed where it really came from. Speaking at a promotional event alongside Shruti Haasan and Nagarjuna Akkineni, Anirudh admitted it wasn't the result of deep linguistic research, but rather a spontaneous burst of creativity in his studio. 'While working on the teaser, I sometimes go a bit wild in my studio — blabbering, shouting, making random sounds… and that's how 'Alela Polema' was born,' he laughed. Lokesh loved it instantly Once the line was recorded, Anirudh sent it to 'Coolie' director Lokesh Kanagaraj , fully expecting him to question its meaning. Instead, Lokesh surprised him with a completely different reaction. 'He told me, 'That's my favourite part of the teaser,'' Anirudh recalled. 'That's the kind of bond we share — he just gets it, no explanation needed.' The phrase, though completely made up, has quickly become one of the film's most talked-about elements ahead of release. An accidental Greek twist Interestingly, the gibberish wasn't entirely meaningless after all. Anirudh later discovered online that in Greek, 'Alela Polema' loosely translates to 'I am ready to fight.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo The composer insists this was pure coincidence.
