Celebrate National Space Day with free STEM fun at the Space Foundation Discovery Center
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Space Foundation Discovery Center, in partnership with Space Workforce for Tomorrow (SWFT), is celebrating National Space Day with two weeks of STEM excitement leading up to a free public event on Saturday, May 3.
Alex Grab, the Director of Offsite Programming at the Space Foundation, joined FOX21's Krista Witiak to share what families can expect.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can enjoy hands-on science activities, space exhibits, and an astronaut meet-and-greet with Lt. Col. Scott 'Kidd' Poteet (Ret.) at the Discovery Center in Colorado Springs.
Leading up to the big day, astronauts and educators are visiting local schools to bring STEM learning directly to students. Thanks to support from sponsors like RTX and Arcfield, all events are free and open to the public.
