Cricket stars past and present shine at Hadleigh's international day

A WHOLE host of past and present cricket stars shone at Hadleigh & Thundersley's annual international day. An entertaining 20 over clash ended with the PCA England Masters beating their hosts by 12 runs. And club chairman Kevan Jenkinson was delighted with how the day went. 'It was a fantastic event which allowed us to showcase cricket and our club within the community,' said Jenkinson. 'It also allowed us to highlight our new training facility and to promote and recruit new members 'We had nearly 400 people in the marquee and probably close to 1,000 spectators around the ground. 'It was a really good game too.' The PCA England team contained a number of ex internationals including Adam Hollioake, Alex Tudor and Mark Ramprakash alongside current Essex skipper Tom Westley and bowler Jamie Porter. The PCA side were put bat first after losing the toss and went on to score 253/3 with Owais Shah top scoring with 127 from 65 balls. Fellow opener Ali Brown made 95 before retiring meaning 241 was put on for the first wicket. Louis Poynter (2/53) and Ethan Rogers (1/29) took the wickets for Hadleigh who then fell just short in reply after scoring 241/4 from their 20 overs. Jack Sinfield led the way with 86 for Hadleigh while Kian Vapiwala hit 66 not out but it was not enough to prevent a narrow defeat.

"Illegal, Surely?" Internet Left Stunned As Mobile Phone Slips Out Of Cricketer's Pocket Mid-Match

A bizarre incident occurred recently during a County Championship game in England, in a match between Lancashire and Gloucestershire. Lancashire bowler Tom Bailey had come out to bat, but was the subject of this unique circumstance. While trying to run two, Bailey's mobile phone slipped out of his trousers' pocket. The peculiar incident raised the question as to why Bailey had even taken his phone with him while batting. The internet was left both amused and shocked by the proceedings. Bailey had come in to bat on the second day of the match, with Lancashire at 401/8, batting first. Bailey contributed 22 runs off 31 balls and remained unbeaten till the end. "Illegal, surely?" commented one user on X. "But how is that allowed?" questioned another. "This surely deserves to be reprimanded?" stated a third user. Bailey appeared to initially miss the fact that the phone had slipped out of his pocket. In fact, it was the Gloucestershire bowler who seemed to notice the incident. However, it is not known whether the phone was handed back to the player or confiscated by the umpire. Meanwhile, a magnificent fighting 95 from skipper Riyan Parag went in vain as defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) held their nerves to deny Rajasthan Royals (RR) a win, leaving them one run short at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. Chasing 207 runs, RR was 71/5, but a 92-run stand between Parag and Shimron Hetmyer and fireworks from Shubham Dubey and Jofra Archer almost took them home, until the pair failed to complete a double on the final ball to push the match into a Super Over. KKR is at sixth spot with five wins and five losses, giving them 10 points and keeping their defence alive. RR is at eighth, with three wins and nine losses, giving them six points.
