Oman's Maritime Mapping Authority Chief receives Global Honour
Muscat – In a significant recognition of Omani excellence in international maritime affairs, Brigadier Dr. Ahmed bin Ali al Badi, Head of the National Hydrographic Office in Oman, has been awarded the Alexander Dalrymple Award 2025 by the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO).
This prestigious award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to hydrography. Brig. Dr. Al Badi was recognized for his pioneering efforts in advancing hydrographic work in Oman and for strengthening international cooperation in the field.
The award ceremony was held in the United Kingdom, where Brig. Dr. Al Badi received the honor in the presence of senior officials from the British Navy and UKHO. This recognition reflects Oman's growing leadership role in maritime sciences, particularly in hydrography, and underlines the country's commitment to safety and innovation in navigation and marine mapping.
The Alexander Dalrymple Award is named after the first Hydrographer of the British Admiralty and is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service in the field.
