Turning 50 in intergalactic style! Designer Alice Temperley throws wild themed birthday bash with a star-studded guestlist, llamas and SEVEN cakes in grade-II listed Georgian family manor

Royal fashion designer Alice Temperley celebrated her 50th birthday at the weekend with a raucous intergalactic disco-themed party at her family's Grade II-listed country house in Somerset - complete with roaming llamas, seven birthday cakes and a tent full of sequinned guests dancing into the early hours. Alice, whose signature boho designs are a firm favourite of the Princess of Wales and Hollywood stars including Keria Knightley and Sienna Miller, hosted a three-day extravaganza. The guest list was a mix of British fashion and society: models Jodie Kidd, 46, Arizona Muse, 36, and Jade Parfitt, 47 as well as Leah Wood, artist daughter of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. Alice was also joined by her parents, Julian and Dianna, as well as her siblings, Mary, Matilda and Ed. The party took place at the family's historic Georgian manor, which was festooned with disco balls, fairy lights, lanterns and flags for the occasion. One photo shared by Ibiza A-list concierge founder Serena Cook shows two motorbikes parked outside as guests dressed in head-to-toe glitter walk down the grand stone steps. The birthday girl wore a flowing white embroidered gown layered with a dramatic coat trimmed in faux fur, finishing the look with chandelier earrings and a black wide-brimmed hat. Her mother, Diana, wore a full-length gold sequin dress and was seen embracing Alice beside a flaming spit roast. Inside the tented marquee, guests dined at candle-lit banquet tables covered in checked tablecloths, flowers, wine bottles and plates piled high with food. At one point Jodie Kidd posed playfully for a photo while cradling two dachshunds at the table. Jade - a Nineties catwalk star who rose to fame alongside Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangalista - posted a series of photos from the party on Instagram alongside the caption: 'Thank you Alice for another epic party, truly my favourite place to be with the best gang, celebrating one of the most generous and hardworking people I know.' She added: 'The theme - intergalactic disco. Birthday girl - Alice. Best friends in attendance - too many to count. Dance floor tunes - endless. Birthday cakes - 7. Deely boppers - 1. Face jewels given out - 45. Cheeky bum pic gifted - 1. Earrings lost - 1. Muddy trainers - yup.' In other photos, guests could be seen wearing shimmering sequins, alien antennae and glittering star face stickers. Ronnie Wood's daughter with his ex-wife Jo Wood, Leah, wore a silver jacket and added stick-on face jewels, while Jade accessorised her Simone Rocha headband with novelty boppers. Later, Alice was presented with a candle-covered cake and serenaded by the crowd. In a final shot, Jade and Jodie were seen lying fully dressed on a bed, apparently exhausted after the celebrations. Also pictured partying into the early hours were jeweller Tara Agace, who completed her glamorous look with a gold headpiece, model India Glover and TV presenter and film director Scott Wimsett. Creative partner to luxury brands Holly Scott Lidgett and brand marketing expert Amie Martin were joined by Stephanie Bolam, the co-founder and designer of clothes label Filthy Cute LDN. The llamas made their own appearance, with one image showing three of the animals perched along the garden wall near leftover party chairs and a half-deflated paddling pool. Alice is well known for throwing big bashes - but the party to celebrate her 47th birthday in 2022 went out with a different kind of bang. The Mail's Richard Eden reported at the time that firefighters were called to the festivities, also held in Somerset, after the property's fire alarm was set off by a bonfire lit during the party. Long-time friend Jade Parfitt was later pictured, dressed in one of the designer's leopard print gowns, holding one of the hoses that the firemen used to put out the fire. 'Health and safety gone mad,' the model joked. 'Alice Temperley knows how to throw a party and make the best dresses for putting out bonfires. The firemen are going to be hiring me because I have it all under control.' Birthday girl Alice Temperley beamed as she stood beside her sister Mary Temperley, who also owns a brand The designer shared a close up of her party dress from her own brand, which was white with bejewelled detailing and embroidery Alice posed with two of her guests; one of whom carried a bottle of Tattinger champagne in a box, as they all donned whacky headgear The fashion designer and her pals donned their finest glad rags for the opulent event Alice founded her famous brand Temperley London in 2000. It underwent a major restructure in 2020 after facing financial pressures and the brand exited many wholesale partnerships and downsized operations, closing its London Mayfair store. Now based primarily in Somerset, where Alice lives and works, the label has pivoted to a direct-to-consumer model and focuses on bridalwear, made-to-order gowns and small seasonal collections, with an emphasis on sustainability and craftsmanship. Alice's label has long been a favourite of Kate Middleton, with the Princess of Wales choosing its distinctive designs to attend a number of high profile events over the years. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the designer was admiring of Kate - then the Duchess of Cambridge - describing her as 'the perfect modern-day woman.' She told the publication: 'The Duchess is an inspiration. She's very graceful, gracious and she's a brilliant ambassador for British fashion. She mixes up designer and high street; the perfect modern-day woman.' In 2017, Kate attended a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark World Mental Health Day in a striking blue lace dress by the British brand. And, famously, Alice designed the green backless number worn by Pippa Middleton to her sister's wedding reception.

Temperley London Resort 2026 Collection

'This one's my favorite—I wish I could fit into that for the Serpentine [Summer Party] tonight,' said Alice Temperley of a deep blue cut-out gown, embroidered with a delicate gold leaf motif, during a preview at her west London store. The designer is doubling down on her signature dresses for her brand's first resort collection in several years, tapping into the demand for occasion wear ahead of the festive season (the collection lands in stores in November and December). Of course, party dresses have been Temperley's raison d'être, ever since she began dressing the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller on launching the brand back in 2000. This season sees the return of old favorites as part of the designer's Heritage offering, from the sequined Filigree dress rendered in silver and scarlet, to the crystal-embellished Celestial gown, also fashioned in a striking shade of red. It's a testament to Temperley's loyal clients that these designs are just as coveted now, as when they were first released. 'They're just classic pieces,' Temperley explained. 'We keep them going because that's what people are asking for.' While there's a smattering of day wear within the offering (the velvet suiting has proven particularly popular in recent seasons), the majority of the collection's brand-new designs stick closely to the label's tried-and-tested DNA. There's the ornate Art Deco-inspired gowns, decorated with sequin flowers; slips and bodysuits featuring heavily beaded overlays; and the more structured gold cloqué dress, inspired by '40s Hollywood. As Temperley prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary next season, it's clear that longevity in this industry doesn't have to mean reinventing the wheel.
