MasterChef Stars Join Alinga for Burmese Feast

Bangkok, August 4, 2025 — Alinga Tea & Dining marked its grand opening in Bangkok with a vibrant culinary event titled 'Alinga the 1st Food Tasting: Culinary Cultural Bridge', celebrating the rich and diverse flavours of Burmese cuisine. Held on Rama 9 Road, the evening welcomed food lovers, chefs, and special guests for an immersive experience combining tradition, innovation, and cultural exchange. A highlight of the night was a creative selection of halal-friendly Burmese fusion canapés—bite-sized dishes that blended classic Burmese ingredients with playful, modern presentations. Crowd favourites included Mini Shan Arancini (crispy rice balls infused with Burmese spices), Laphet Thoke (tea leaf salad served canapé-style), and the colourful Trio Sticky Rice Sushi Roll, which offered a novel take on Burmese-style sticky rice. Guests were invited to taste and vote for their favourite, making the evening both interactive and engaging. The culinary centrepiece of the event was a special 4-hand dinner menu designed by two distinguished chefs: Chef Kaew Paveenuch, the first winner of MasterChef Thailand, and Chef Joseph Nyi, head chef at Le Cellier in Yangon and a judge on MasterChef Myanmar Season 4. The exclusive course menu featured standout creations such as Myanmar Seafood Kanom Krok (Mont Lin Mayar), Fermented Bean Risotto, and Red Curry-Scented Prawn Ravioli. This innovative menu is now available to the public at Alinga for a limited three-month period. Beyond the flavours, the event served as a cultural bridge, strengthening the culinary ties between Thailand and Myanmar. Alinga Tea & Dining hopes to share the bold, distinctive tastes of Burmese cuisine with a broader Thai audience and foster appreciation for Southeast Asia's shared culinary heritage. Open 24 hours a day, Alinga invites guests for lunch, dinner, or a late-night bite, offering a refreshing new take on Burmese food in the heart of Bangkok.

Burmese flavours close to home at Alinga Tea & Dining

Even though a border separates Thailand and Myanmar, the cultural connection between the two feels anything but distant, especially when it comes to food. Burmese restaurants are quietly tucked away all over Bangkok and one of them is Alinga Tea & Dining, a halal Burmese-inspired spot in the Rama IX area. To celebrate the delicious connection between two traditions, the eatery hosted its very first event on July 11 called 'Alinga the 1st Food Tasting: Culinary Cultural Bridge'. Photograph: Alinga Tea & Dining What made the night special was a four-hand dinner by two renowned chefs: Thailand's first MasterChef winner,Chef Kaew Paveenuch, and Chef Joseph Nyi: culinary director at Le Cellier in Yangon and a judge on MasterChef Myanmar Season 4. If you missed the event, don't despair – you can still enjoy their special menu at the venue for the next three months. Even though the evening was centred around food, it brought people together through conversation and a shared curiosity about the tastes of Myanmar. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, just like Alinga itself, where the cuisine is made to feel approachable, creative and full of heart.
