Old state house in Hartford celebrates 229th birthday
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut's old state house celebrated its 229th birthday Saturday and members of the community showed up to engage in the festivities.
The historic landmark first opened as one of Connecticut's two state capitols on May 11, 1796 and was used for about 150 years.

Due to the building being threatened with destruction, members of the community wanted to celebrate the the important historical connection with artistic crafts and birthday cake.
'If you're an adult, you can come learn about Connecticut, learn about Hartford and how they were involved in different historical things,' Alison Sharaf of Hartford said.
