Lidl to slash prices of bakery items including croissants
Lidl's bakery is a feature that brings in a huge amount of people to the supermarket, and those who are fans may be pleased to hear some prices are going down. A number of items included within the bakery range will be reduced in price, including the almond croissant and pain au chocolate. This is to celebrate it being crowned the UK's No.1 in-store bakery. Lidl topped an online survey carried out by Opinium Research in February of 2,000 adults, asking what supermarket bakery they found to be the best. Lidl crowned 'UK's number one bakery' as it slashes favourites to just 29p
Over the years, Lidl has become beloved for many things. From budget-friendly prices to its popular middle aisle , there's a lot to love about the supermarket. However, many would agree that there's one that stands above them all, and that is the bakery. Now an icon in its own right, the German chain's patisserie section is also a huge hit with bargain hunters on TikTok . Owing to its popularity, loyalists will not be surprised to hear that Lidl has just been crowned as the UK's number one in-store bakery. It comes after the supermarket also took the title as "the most popular" last year, beating out the likes of Tesco and Aldi . To celebrate its coveted win, Lidl has dropped the prices of 11 of its popular bakery treats to as low as 29p. We're talking freshly baked goods such as petit pains and white rolls that are now at the reduced price. Shoppers will also find that the Queen of the patisserie section, the All Butter Croissant, is now just 59p. According to previous research, this buttery, flaky pastry is said to be so popular that it sells 122 times every minute. If you're a fan of chocolate, then you'll be able to satisfy your cravings for as little as 69p as popular pastries including the All Butter Pain Au Chocolat, Chocolate Twist and Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant have been reduced in price. That's not all though, as Lidl has advised that the Pastel de Nata will also be just 69p. Perfect for finishing of a meal, this sweet treat is the supermarket's take on the beloved Portuguese egg custard tart pastry. Another dessert-style item shoppers will be able to bag sometime soon will be a crisp Apple Turnover that will go available in stores nationwide from tomorrow, Friday, April 25. With searches for 'Lidl bakery' increasing by 31 percent in March 2025, it is no surprise that it has been crowned the number one in the UK. A favourite on TikTok, shoppers regularly share their bakery hauls, with some going as far as to say it has "changed my life forever." It also comes after shoppers on the social media platform spotted a selection of new pastries and treats on offer for Easter. This includes the likes of Mini Egg Brownies, Mini Egg Muffins and a Carrot Cake Muffin. Lidl's reduced bakery prices are available to shop in all stores nationwide now.
