Lidl to slash prices of bakery items including croissants

Lidl's bakery is a feature that brings in a huge amount of people to the supermarket, and those who are fans may be pleased to hear some prices are going down.
A number of items included within the bakery range will be reduced in price, including the almond croissant and pain au chocolate.
This is to celebrate it being crowned the UK's No.1 in-store bakery.
Lidl topped an online survey carried out by Opinium Research in February of 2,000 adults, asking what supermarket bakery they found to be the best.

Aldi's Dyson fan dupe is back in stores this weekend and it's £200 cheaper

BUDGET superstore Aldi has thrilled and chilled customers by bringing back their very own Dyson fan dupe. The Ambiano Bladeless Fan has made a welcome comeback just in time for the (hopefully here to stay) warmer weather - and it's available now. The penny-pinching household dupe promises to keep your home cool during the summer months and boasts impressive features. The German supermarket has re-released the bladeless fan to help you keep cool - but it won't be there for long. The modern design bladeless fan has three speed settings, high, medium, low, plus three modes: normal, nature and sleep. You can customise your sleep with the various modes and tailor it to your own temperature needs during the day - and most importantly, for a good night's sleep at bedtime. There's a handy timer (from 1 – 12 hours), a seven colour LED lighting ring, fixed and oscillation function, swivel control and a remote control. Part of Aldi's Specialbuys, the chic Design Fan comes in at £39.99 making it much easier on the bank balance than rivals. Plus, with its bladeless design, it's safe around little people or pets. The sought-after accessory is also incredibly quiet and makes only 56 decibels of sound. Ready to fly off the store's middle aisles once again, the affordable, sleek gadget comes in £200 cheaper than the Dyson original and £30 cheaper than Lidl 's own. Fans commented: "I LOVE the fan!! It comes with a remote, three fan speeds, can have the air coming in, going out or both... AND a timer. Happy girl right here!" Aldi is selling a cheap $4.49 item that will transform your garden into a colorful summer paradise A second user confirmed: "Love ours!!!! Feels like AC throughout the night. It's amazing." A third praised: "Absolutely love mine." Aldi said: "Stay comfortable this summer with Aldi's sell-out Air Cooler (£39.99), that uses evaporative cooling technology for an affordable solution to chilling out – simply add water to the 5.5L tank to circulate cool air. "Featuring three speed levels, a 0-12-hour timer, remote control, LED light display, four ice boxes and automatic air-swing, it's the ideal alternative to pricey air conditioning." Also hitting the Specialbuys shelves this week are £3.99 garden must-haves and £4 Crocs dupes. The popular discount chain has revealed 36 garden essential products - and crocs dupes to wear while you're gardening. Prices start at just £1.99 and go up to £19.99, with several top-shelf items for a fraction of the cost you'd pay at big-name stores. That includes Mini Pruning Shears, scanning at Aldi for just £3.99. Shoppers can also snap up sleeker items like Solar Marrakesh Crook Lanterns for £12.99 and Solar Plastic Spotlights for £3.99. To find your nearest Aldi, you can go to its website and use the Store Finder tool. When's the best time to shop at Aldi? WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy. For reduced items - when shops open Red sticker items are rare at Aldi's 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found - if you're quick. A spokesman for the supermarket said: "All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates." That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens. Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store's times by using the supermarket's online shop finder tool. For Specialbuys - Thursdays and Sundays Specialbuys are Aldi's weekly collection of items that it doesn't normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools. New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals. For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store's opening time. Aldi's Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut, which was named the World Best Champagne at the World Champagne Awards is priced at just £14.95. The penny-pinching friendly drink is a whopping £30 cheaper than prestigious brand Moet, which retails for £45, but despite its budget price tag, it won the favour of experts. Aldi said: "Crafted to perfection from a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, and matured in cellars to enhance its complexity and length, Aldi's Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut is known for its aromas of ripe apple, soft red fruit, and delicate florals - a testament to expert winemaking without the premium price tag." The purse-friendly bottle triumphed over luxury competitors including G.H. Martel Honoré de Balzac Edition Limitée Brut Champagne, which costs up to 70% more than the Aldi product. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK: "To have our £14.95 Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut recognised as the best in the world is proof that exceptional quality doesn't have to come with an eye-watering price tag. "It's a proud moment not just for Aldi, but for our customers who can enjoy world-class champagne without breaking the bank." And this isn't the first award that the Aldi champagne has won. Last year, the drink picked up multiple medals at the International Wine Challenge, Drinks Business Sparkling and Champagne Masters. The supermarket's wider range of wines, beers and spirits has won over 180 awards this year. Cheapest supermarket revealed and Wetherspoons axe fan favourite menu item Aldi has once again been crowned the UK's cheapest supermarket for everyday essentials, beating German rival Lidl. Lidl followed closely behind, with a near-identical total of £135.79 if using a Lidl Plus loyalty card, or £135.82 without it. The shopping list included branded and own-brand favourites such as Birds Eye peas, Hovis bread, milk and butter. Reena Sewraz, retail editor at Which?, said: 'Aldi continues to be the UK's cheapest supermarket in our monthly price analysis for May while Lidl has narrowed the gap to just 31p. 'For a bigger list of groceries, Asda continues to be the cheapest supermarket, beating shopping at Tesco with a Clubcard by more than £10."
