Road closures to know this weekend as festival season kicks off
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A plethora of streets will be closed this weekend during the Allentown Art Festival and the Juneteenth parade as the festival season kicks off in the Queen City. Closures will begin on Friday at 4 p.m. and end on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The following streets will be closed for the Allentown Art Festival during that time: Delaware Avenue from Tupper to North Virginia Street from Delaware to Franklin Franklin Avenue from Virginia to Allen Allen Street from Franklin to Park and from Elmwood to Hudson The following streets will be closed for the Juneteenth parade from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.: Genesee Street from Bailey to Walden Best Street from Walden to Fillmore Fillmore Avenue from Genesee to French 'These festivals reflect the culture, diversity, and creativity that make our city so special,' said Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon. 'I urge everyone to come and enjoy these events–and to please follow all posted parking restrictions and police guidance to ensure a safe and smooth weekend for all.' Free admission this weekend at Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site will offer free admission and tours on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the Allentown Art Festival. Roosevelt became the 26th President of the United States in 1901 in Buffalo, and the place where he was sworn into office is set up for an eventful weekend. 68th Allentown Art Festival kicks off this weekend The TR Site will play multiple roles on Saturday and Sunday, including being an early voting station for Erie County's Primary Election, held on Tuesday, June 24. The site will hold a handful of events for people to take in as well. These will include chalk art on the site's driveway on Sunday and a special exhibit showcasing winning works from middle and high school students from the Buffalo News' Editorial Cartoon Contest. Those who attend can also meet representatives from some of the site's other partners like the Buffalo Presidential Center and the Buffalo Choral Arts Society. 'Together, we will continue to provide access to premier civics programming and education at Buffalo and Western New York's only National Park Site,' said Spencer Morgan, the site's executive director. He also said the site is grateful to Delaware North for the partnership supporting this weekend's free admission. You can visit the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site at 641 Delaware Avenue.
