Radiohead's Grammy-Winning Masterpiece Soars To A NeW All-Time High
For weeks now, Radiohead's 'Let Down' has been rising on charts globally. The tune is one of the rare surprise smashes that comes out of nowhere, as people on social media platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) have turned the track into a hit long after it was originally released – and many are discovering it for the first time. Thanks to the way charts are constructed these days, a huge increase in streams or sales of one track featured on an album can benefit the parent project — and that's exactly what's happening with OK Computer. That beloved set is on the rise in America once again, decades after it initially helped establish Radiohead as one of the most progressive and interesting groups in alternative rock. 'Let Down' Climbs Globally 'Let Down' appears on half a dozen Billboard charts, four of which are focused entirely on American consumption. While the track — never pushed as a single — dips on several rock and alternative lists, it does manage to climb worldwide. 'Let Down' reaches new peaks on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., surging to Nos. 155 and 186, respectively. OK Computer Hits a New Alternative Peak All the attention being paid to 'Let Down' is aiding OK Computer, specifically in the United States. The full-length climbs on a trio of tallies and even manages to hit a new all-time peak on the Top Alternative Albums chart, which details the most consumed alternative projects in the U.S. The band's early career release jumps from No. 21 to No. 17 in its eleventh frame on that list. Radiohead's Decades-Late Debut OK Computer only debuted on the Top Alternative Albums ranking in May of this year, thanks to the sudden popularity of 'Let Down.' The Top Alternative Albums chart didn't exist when the full-length was new, so it took a very special set of circumstances to send it to this list. Even as it climbs to a never-before-seen high, OK Computer stands as the second-lowest-peaking of the band's nine appearances on the alternative-only roster. Only The Best Of (2 CD Limited Edition), which stalled at No. 22, has managed a lower high point. Radiohead's Gains on the Rock Charts OK Computer is also growing on two other rankings, though it doesn't reach peak positions on either of them. The set jumps two spaces on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, settling at No. 38 — one spot below its all-time peak of No. 37. On the Billboard 200, where it originally rose to No. 21, OK Computer surges 10 spots to No. 145. Luminate reports that the set, originally released in 1997, moved another 10,300 equivalent copies in the past tracking period, which is up a little more than 2.5% from the frame before. OK Computer's Ongoing Cultural Impact Upon its release in June 1997, OK Computer marked a turning point for Radiohead, shifting its sound from guitar-driven Britpop toward more experimental, atmospheric sounds. The title became a critical triumph, earning the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. Widely regarded as one of the most influential albums of the 1990s, its helped show what could become commercially successful, and its influence on countless bands that came after it dropped is hard to state.

Jeff Buckley's Only Album Debuts On Multiple Billboard Charts, Decades After His Death
Jeff Buckley's Grace returns to the Billboard 200 and debuts on two genre-specific charts, as ... More 'Lover, You Should've Come Over' surges in popularity. American alt-and folk/rock musician and singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley (1966-1997) performs on guitar and vocals at the 'Greetings from Tim Buckley' concert, a tribute to his father, at Arts at St. Ann, St. Ann's Church, Brooklyn, New York, April 26, 1991. (Photo by) Only a handful of musicians in history can claim a debut album so impactful and brilliantly executed that it keeps their name on the charts years, or even decades, after their career ends. Jeff Buckley is one such artist. He only released a single full-length project during his lifetime, Grace, before tragically and mysteriously passing away in 1997 at the age of 30. His soulful first full-length remains a masterpiece long after its release, and in 2025, the title manages to land on multiple Billboard rankings for the first time. Grace Debuts on Multiple Charts Grace is new this frame to both the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts. Buckley's studio effort opens at No. 25 on the list of the most consumed alternative projects in the country, and at No. 44 on the slightly-busier roster that also includes rock collections. Jeff Buckley Posthumously Adds to His Wins Buckley has only appeared on the Top Alternative Albums chart twice. Grace earns the late singer-songwriter his first new placement in almost a decade, as You and I arrived on the tally in April 2016. Over on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums list, Buckley has now scored just three career placements, with Grace joining You and I and Grace Around the World — the latter having spent a single turn in third-to-last place more than 15 years ago. Grace Returns to the Billboard 200 As it launches on two genre-specific rankings, Grace also finds its way back to the Billboard 200. Luminate reports that Buckley's full-length moved another 8,700 equivalent units in the past tracking frame, with a little less than half of those being purchases. Grace reenters America's most competitive albums tally at No. 198, and it can also be found on both the Top Album Sales and Top Americana/Folk Albums charts this week. "Lover, You Should've Come Over" Hits Its All-Time High Grace appears to be climbing as consumption of one of the tunes on its tracklist surges. "Lover, You Should've Come Over" reappears on both the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs tallies this week. Buckley's single reenters the Hot Rock Songs list at No. 16, a new all-time peak, and nearly matches its best showing on the other ranking, missing its No. 22 high point by one slot in just its second turn on that roster.

'90s Rock Legends Plays Fan-Favorite Song for the First Time in 26 Years
'90s Rock Legends Plays Fan-Favorite Song for the First Time in 26 Years originally appeared on Parade. Knoxville, Tennessee's Superdrag made a splash in the mid-1990s during alternative rock's peak. While many fans might remember hearing 'Sucked Out' on the radio or seeing the video on MTV, those that dug deeper discovered a alt-rock/power pop group that The Hard Timescalled 'the most underrated band of the '90s (and possibly of all time).' Superdrag initially broke up in 2003; they reformed now and again, but they haven't ventured beyond their hometown. So, it's no surprise that fans packed Los Angeles' Troubadour this past weekend for Superdrag's first West Coast shows since 2009. To make the night memorable, Superdrag—frontman John Davis, drummer Don Coffey Jr., guitarist Brandon Fisher, and bassist Tom Pappas—decided to treat their loyal fans. The two-night event, dubbed a Destination Superdrag Weekend, kicked off on June 20, a night where the band played 'Comfortably Bummed' for the first time since 1999(!), according to Setlist FM. Superdrag played 'I Guess It's American,' introduced as 'I Am Incinerator,' for the first time ever. The second night (June 21) was full of familiar songs, including 'True Believer,' 'Feeling Like I Do,' and, of course, 'Sucked Out.' Superdrag first went on hiatus in 2003. John Davis had gotten sober and embraced his religion. He felt disconnected from the rowdy and drunken audiences of the day. Davis remained prolific, performing in a variety of music styles in a bevy of different bands. Superdrag reunited in the late 2000s, went on break again, and subsequently reunited in the early 2020s. Coffey Jr., Fisher and Pappas even worked on Davis's 2024 solo album, JINX. Davis told Stereogum in 2024 that he has reconciled with Regretfully Yours (the album that spawned 'Sucked Out'). Davis said he wasn't happy with his vocals on the album, but noted that 'the last time I listened to it, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. There are lots of things about it that I really like. I love the drum sounds, I love the guitar sounds, I like the songs.' The band will bring the 'Destination Superdrag Weekend' to the East Coast in the fall. The band will play New York City's Bowery Ballroom on October 3-4.'90s Rock Legends Plays Fan-Favorite Song for the First Time in 26 Years first appeared on Parade on Jun 23, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 23, 2025, where it first appeared.
