Kaizer Chiefs management give green light for striker!
Kaizer Chiefs concluded their pre-season in the Netherlands with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Twente, marking their fourth defeat in five games. The underwhelming record hasn't appeared to shatter AmaKhosi's confidence, who have returned home in a seemingly chipper mood. 'We had a very exciting pre-season,' an insider revealed. 'It was a great space for the team to be in so that coaches can strategise and players blend in and connect.' Six signings have occurred this offseason, but Kaizer Chiefs are yet to land a formidable striker, which has them remaining active in the transfer market. 'Yes, the club has already signed six players this season, but it's believed that the head coach and his technical team still need at least one experienced striker to help them mainly in the CAF Confederation Cup and management is willing to sign another striker if that's what the technical team needs so that they have a well-balanced squad which will compete in all the tournaments, ' a source confirmed. According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs have been offered Cameroonian striker Ravel Djoumekou. The 25-year-old currently plays for Congo's FC Saint Eloi Lupopo. 'He is an experienced striker who could really help Chiefs at this stage,' a sourced explained. 'He has been offered to Chiefs in their quest to sign a striker and now it's up to Chiefs' scouts and analysts to assess him and make a decision after that. But if they make their decision to sign him, then he would be available.' A second source reaffirmed Kaizer Chiefs' inquiry, saying, 'Of course, the club hasn't finished signings yet. They are still looking at other players. Some you may know, others you may not know. So if this striker is good as they say, then the club would be considering him as well, as it's believed they haven't finished signings yet for this coming season.' Kaizer Chiefs news: Sundowns decision pending, Nabi talks talent
Kaizer Chiefs remain in the dark over Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etoisa Ighodaro, who has one year left on his contract. 'At the moment Chiefs are waiting on Sundowns,' a source confirmed.' Ighodaro has one year remaining on his contract with Sundowns and only if they can release him first as a free agent or if they can buy him from the remaining months on his contract.' 'Kaizer Chiefs are interested in him and depending on what Sundowns' decision is then Chiefs would still sign him before the start of the season.' Competition is another roadblock for AmaKhosi with the 24-year-old forward reportedly weighing up his options, suggesting that a move to the Soweto giants is not set in stone if the Tshwane giants are willing to let him go. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' an insider revealed. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad. Nothing has been concluded. Kaizer Chiefs will enter next season having underperformed in the previous two campaigns, failing to qualify for the MTN8 Cup on both occasions. The 2025/26 season will undoubtably be Nasreddine Nabi's defining test – endure a series of defeats and he could be out the door before Christmas. But it's not all doom and gloom for AmaKhosi, who have welcomed several stars, including Ethan Chislett and Flavio Silva. The gaffer mentioned how they handled the club's pre-season in Europe, saying, 'They need to fully jell with the group,' Nabi said. 'However, they are all adapting nicely, and they start to understand what I expect from them. Our objective was to sign new players that will bring us to a higher level compared to last season. 'We saw a lot of positives in our training matches against very strong Dutch opponents. The players have started to understand the way I want them to play, and they jell well as a strong unit.' 'We didn't only want quality opponents, we also wanted quantity. Parallel with this, we did some tough physical work at training, even doing double sessions on the day before a match… We even had two sessions the day after one of the friendlies, with the objective of getting the players mentally ready,' the Kaizer Chiefs boss concluded. Kaizer Chiefs news: Transfer stalls, coach issues warning
The pressure is mounting at Kaizer Chiefs, both on and off the field. While head coach Nasreddine Nabi recently led the club to its first trophy in a decade — a memorable Nedbank Cup triumph — the celebrations have been short-lived. AmaKhosi have won just one of five pre-season matches, and concerns are growing over squad readiness ahead of the new season. Central to those concerns is a stalled transfer involving a sought-after striker. Etiosa Ighodaro has been heavily linked with a move to Naturena, but despite widespread reports of a completed deal, insiders suggest nothing has been signed. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' a source close to the situation said. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad. Nothing has been concluded.' The delay has frustrated supporters and will be seemingly fustrating Nabi, who, following the club's Nedbank Cup victory, the Tunisian coach made his expectations for the upcoming season very clear. 'I wouldn't be honest if I said that I'm gonna stay if the club doesn't allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season,' Nabi told SuperSport. 'They have promised, and myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies.' 'That's the condition for me to stay… I don't feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Chiefs news: Top-rated striker slipping away away, defender drama
Kaizer Chiefs' pursuit of Nigeria's Etiosa Ighodaro remains in muddy waters as the player continues to weigh up his options. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' an insider revealed. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad. Nothing has been concluded. AmaKhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been vocal about his transfer demands from the club. 'I wouldn't be honest if say that I'm gonna stay if the club doesn't allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season because they have promised, and myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies,' Nabi told SuperSportafter winning the Nedbank Cup final, ending Kaizer Chiefs' ten-year trophy drought. 'That's the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs] because I don't feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.' Kaizer Chiefs have won one of their five pre-season fixtures, raising alarm bells from fans to club legends. The latter relates to Tsepo Masilela, who has been vocal about his displeasure in left-back Nkhanyiso Shinga. 'To be honest, when I look at Shinga, interesting player, but defensively, there's been question marks, in my opinion,' he said. 'Even the second goal (conceded against Twente), there's a couple of times (even) in the previous games, he got beaten in one-v-one situations.' 'Your primary job as a defender is to win those duels, to be on top of the winger – that's how you gain confidence. Listen, he's comfortable on the ball, that we can't argue.' 'But again, him inverting most of the time, I found it that it was dragging (Makabi) Lilepo to receive the ball too deep, more like a left-back. I couldn't understand what's the idea of him inverting that much.' Let us know by clicking on the comment tab below this article or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs' new defender raises alarm bells!
Kaizer Chiefs have won one of their five pre-season fixtures, raising alarm bells from fans to club legends. The latter relates to Tsepo Masilela, who has been vocal about his displeasure with left-back Nkhanyiso Shinga. 'To be honest, when I look at Shinga, interesting player, but defensively, there's been question marks, in my opinion,' he said. I couldn't understand what's the idea of him inverting that much.' Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been equally as vocal about his transfer demands. After winning the Nedbank Cup against Orlando Pirates, ending a ten-year trophy in the process, the Tunisian tactician stated that AmaKhosi must allow him to sign more talent if they want him to stay next season. One striker on their radar is Nigeria's Etiosa Ighodaro, however, it appears the deal is far from complete. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' an insider revealed. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad.
