Woman arrested for attempted homicide in Amador County
( — A 35-year-old woman was arrested on Monday in connection with an attempted homicide, according to the Amador County Sheriff's Office. Video Above: Homicide vs Murder vs Manslaughter ACSO said deputies received reports of a man being stabbed around 6:18 a.m. on Saturday in the Martell area. Deputies could not initially find the involved person when they arrived, but they were later notified that the Sutter Amador Hospital was treating a victim with a stab wound. Deputies and sheriff's office detectives responded to the report. ACSO discovered the suspect to be Brittnee Marie Casey of Jackson, who was on active post-release community supervision out of Calaveras County. The sheriff's office and the Calaveras County Probation Department discovered she had cut off the ankle monitor that was assisting with her supervision. A Ramey Warrant for attempted murder, along with a Be on the Look Out, was issued. Convicted killer strangles wife during conjugal visit in Northern California prison, officials say
A convicted killer serving life in prison for four Los Angeles County slayings strangled his wife to death during a conjugal visit, Northern California sheriff's officials announced. Stephanie Brinson, 62, was strangled to death in November by her husband, David Brinson, 54, the Amador County Sheriff's Office announced this week. In 1994, Brinson was sentenced to four consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole for killing four men during a robbery at a Los Angeles apartment, The Times reported. He is currently incarcerated at the California Health Care Facility in Stockton. Around 2 a.m. on Nov. 13, Brinson contacted officers and told them his wife had passed out, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Officers attempted lifesaving efforts but Stephanie Brinson was pronounced dead at 2:51 a.m. Amador County District Attorney Todd Riebe confirmed that Stephanie Brinson was killed during a conjugal visit. Investigation underway after dog dies from possible gunshot in Northern California
( — Deputies in Northern California are investigating the circumstances behind a dog that may have been shot to death. Around 9:17 p.m. on Feb. 26, the Amador County Sheriff's Office received a call from a resident on Meadowmont Drive in Pioneer. The resident reportedly told deputies he returned home and found his dog dead. He believed the dog had been shot by an unknown suspect. Northern California sheriff's office to work with ICE: 'Public safety first' When ACSO arrived at the scene, they found a small dog with a wound consistent with the entry of a pellet or small caliber bullet. The dog was taken by the responding deputies so a necropsy could be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Deputies said they searched and spoke with people in the neighborhood but didn't find leads. One resident told law enforcement they heard a yelp around 6 p.m., but no shot was heard. The sheriff's office asked local residents to check their home security camera footage for people or vehicles of interest. Anyone with information can call the ACSO Secret Witness Line at 209- 223-4900. A reward may be available for information leading to the arrest and arraignment of those involved.
