Kaizer Chiefs quoted R15m to bring Bafana Bafana star home!

Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their squad with six signings but are still hungry to sign more players for the season. Chiefs finished in 10th place last season, making it two seasons in a row outside the top eight. That has seen Chiefs miss out on the MTN8 competition once again, meaning they will compete for one less trophy. In order to ensure that this doesn't happen again, they have hit the transfer market. Their business has seen them seal six deals that they hope will drag them closer to the top of the table again. Chiefs have confirmed the signings of Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane and Siphesihle Ndlovu. They have also reportedly signed two Cape Town Spurs young duo of Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman pending legal issues. Those two players are expected to boost the wide channels at Amakhosi should their respective double deal go through. But before they could look at the promising duo of Velebayi and Baartman, Chiefs had their eye elsewhere. They were and still are thought to be interested in signing a more experienced and international winger in Mihlali Mayambela. The Bafana Bafana international has reportedly made it no secret that he wants to return home, only to be a Glamour Boy. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , his Cypriot club Aris Limassol have quoted Amakhosi R15 million for his services! 'I can tell you now that no team can refuse to pay R5 million for a player of Mihlali's (Mayambela) calibre. Have you seen the players the team has signed so far this season? And the amount they have paid? It's around that R5 million for some of them and how could they fail to pay the same amount for an international Bafana Bafana player? So, Aris Limassol demanded around R15 million with one year left on the player's contract. This is why the club felt that was too much hence it's believed they put it on hold for now,' said the source. Chiefs fans, would that fee be fair for a Bafana Bafana international in Mayambela? European scouts eye Kaizer Chiefs midfielder after Dutch Tour

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile 'Mshini' Ngcobo could be on the move after impressing scouts during the team's pre-season tour to the Netherlands. The 25-year-old Amakhosi youth product played only seven matches last season after falling down the pecking order. Ngcobo has been one of the few Kaizer Chiefs players who performed well in the Netherlands alongside Thabo Cele and Aden McCarthy. Soccer Laduma reported that scouts were monitoring the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder during the pre-season tour 'The interest was shown while we were in the Netherlands. There were recruiters and scouts from a European team who enquired about Mshini. They were impressed with what they saw. There was nothing much because it was a pre-season camp but they are interested,' the insider told Soccer Laduma . 'It's believed that at first, coach Nabi was not a fan for Nkosingiphile (Ngcobo), but apparently, now he has shown more belief in him and he seems to want to use him more. So, with this interest from Europe, this could mean a change in fortune for him as well (locally),' the second source told the publication. Kaizer Chiefs could lose another midfielder in a space of days after parting ways with captain Yusuf Maart last week. Amakhosi have already signed Ethan Chislett and Siphesihle Ndlovu in the midfield but one feel the club will need Ngcobo's energy in the middle of the park this coming season. New hero? Kaizer Chiefs fans pin hopes on young Hlongwane

Kaizer Chiefs seem to have found a new hero in Naledi Hlongwane after their impressive 1-0 victory over Dutch Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle. Hlongwane scored the only goal of the match, securing Amakhosi's first win in pre-season on Tuesday evening. Chiefs started the game with Thabiso Monyane, Nkanyiso Shinga, and Flavio da Silva in the lineup; however, it was the Dutch side that enjoyed most of the possession during the early stages of the first half. Despite their early dominance, Kaizer Chiefs appeared more likely to score, particularly with their effective combination play. Nearly 10 minutes into the second half, Naledi Hlongwane, who replaced Da Silva, netted the opener after Mduduzi Shabalala's shot hit the upright. From that moment, Nasreddine Nabi's team looked in control, although they were unable to find a second goal. Hlongwane's performance drew praise from Kaizer Chiefs fans. His coach at development Vela Khumalo has urged the club's supporters not to expect too much too soon from the youngster. 'Hlongwane is a promising youngster, and I have heard reports that he is excelling with the first team over in the Netherlands,' he told . 'However, I'm not sure if this is the right time for him to join the first team. He might face pressure since the team is not performing well at the moment. 'It's a catch-22 situation – whether he will live up to expectations or whether he needs to be supported by older, more experienced players to excel. It's a tricky situation. But he is ready,' Khumalo said. Hlongwane is sure to be a starter in some of Kaizer Chiefs' pre-season matches. Amakhosi will conclude their tour to the Netherlands when they face FC Twente. Youngsters shine as Chiefs beat top flight Zwolle in the Netherlands

Thulani Mabaso, one of Amakhosi's four DStv Diski Challenge under-23 side players taken with the senior team to Holland, took the shot that struck the post to set up the opening, second-half goal. Another, Naledi Hlongwane, buried the rebound for the 54th-minute decider. Generally Chiefs impressed against the team that finished in 10th place in the Eredivise last season. Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi started with more regular senior performers then introduced younger players off the bench, as his team generally had good possession and structure and created decent chances.
