Nagpur Division Pioneers QR Code Payments, Leads Central Railway in Digital Transactions
Nagpur: Central Railway's Nagpur division emerged as a trailblazer in promoting digital payments, achieving the highest share of QR code based transactions across the railway zone at an impressive 22.10%. This innovative initiative, rolled out at both reserved and unreserved ticket counters, is transforming the ticketing experience by offering passengers a swift, secure, and cashless payment option. The QR code payment system allows travellers to use UPI or mobile banking apps, eliminating the need for cash or exact change. This significantly reduced transaction times and eased congestion at ticket counters, earning widespread appreciation from passengers. The initiative builds on Central Railway's earlier digital advancements, such as mobile ticketing for reserved journeys and the UTS app for unreserved tickets, further modernising the railway's ticketing infrastructure. Senior divisional commercial manager Aman Mittal highlighted the initiative's success, stating, "The QR code facility streamlined operations and encouraged passengers to embrace digital payments. It aligns with Indian Railways' vision of leveraging technology for operational efficiency and passenger convenience." Nagpur division's leadership in QR code transactions underscores its commitment to innovation and passenger-friendly services. By promoting cashless payments, the division is contributing to a seamless and efficient travel experience while supporting the broader goal of a digital India. Central Railway continues to prioritise modernisation, with plans to expand such initiatives across its network. Passengers are increasingly adopting this smart payment method, which ensures faster service and enhanced convenience. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
