Man riding electric scooter fatally struck by car in Louisville
A man riding an electric scooter died the morning of June 21 after he was hit by a vehicle in Louisville. Police responded to the crash near 12800 Dixie Highway at around 5 a.m., when they "found a man in his mid-40s who was beyond help," according to a news release from the Louisville Metro Police Department. Witnesses told police the man was operating an electric scooter in the right lane headed north on Dixie Highway when he was struck by a motorist. No charges are anticipated against the motorist, who remained at the scene, police said. Traffic was diverted for a few hours while police reconstructed the scene. The popular USA TODAY Wine and Food Experience has set a date for its return to Louisville. The event will take place Oct. 4 at Waterfront Park, 129 River Road, in downtown Louisville and is part of an eight-city tour that includes Denver, Las Vegas, San Antonio and Phoenix. The one-day event showcases an array of local restaurants and wines from local and international producers. Plus, in honor of Louisville's favorite spirit, bourbon tastings ― and cocktail demonstrations ― have been known to appear. Days after another year of the Tailspin Ale Fest, fans of the Louisville festival have another reason to celebrate. Tailspin Ale Fest was again named among the country's best beer festivals, according to the 2025 USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. USA TODAY 10Best announced the winners in the best beer categories, spanning from best beer bar to best beer city to best brewery tour, on Wednesday. This is part of USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards' ongoing goal to highlight top spots for travel, dining, and lifestyle. The latest set of awards on the subject of popular beer-related categories includes tapping Tailspin Ale Fest as a favorite event. USA TODAY 10Best describes Tailspin Ale Fest as 'all about beer and planes — and it's a great way to warm up in the dead of winter.' The most recent Tailspin Ale Fest was held on March 1 at Bowman Field, 3345 Roger E Schupp St., where people gathered amid a display of World War II aircraft. The 12-year-old festival features 50 breweries offering more than 250 beers to sample, plus live music and food trucks.
