SWSF concludes 4th Amateur Shooting Challenge
New amendments to the competition system This edition was distinguished by amendments to the structure of the competition, as the two individual categories (juniors and women) were cancelled and replaced with the duo category, where each two participants formed one team to take on the challenge and compete with other teams. The challenge included two days of competition, where each participant fired 20 training shots on the first day, while the competition day saw 20 shots counted for each player, to add up the total points of the duo to determine the winning team. Championship results and honours The competitions resulted in the duo Dalal Al Harmoudi and Hamda Al Harmoudi winning first place after achieving a total of 186 points, so the team won the gold medals. The duo Dunya Wasalati and Rawan Al Aalami came in second place with a total of 172 points, while Amal Ghanem and Manour Mohammed came in third place with 169.8 points, after a strong competitive performance that reflected the advanced level of the participants in the championship. Amateur Shooting Challenge begins to uncover future champions
Promoting sports participation and talent development The primary goal of the tournament is to increase participation in sports and community activities while fostering the development of promising talent. Al Balooshi emphasized that the event coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, a time rich in sports and community events, providing the club an opportunity to raise awareness about shooting sports among women. The challenge also aimed to attract Emirati participants aged 12 to 16, encouraging them to join local teams and represent the UAE in national and international competitions. Success stories from previous editions Al Balooshi shared that many previous Amateur Shooting Challenge participants had seen significant success. A notable example is Reem Al Ketbi, a champion in the junior category, who has won multiple medals, including a silver in the Arab Championship and a bronze at the Olympic Hope Championship in Slovakia. This success highlights the tournament's ability to discover and nurture young talent. Increasing popularity of the event Al Balooshi also noted the increasing number of participants in each edition of the championship, not only across different age groups but also from diverse nationalities. This growing participation indicates a heightened public awareness of the sport's value and a strong dedication to its continued practice.
