Here, we reveal some of the easy ways to reduce your subscription bills. Amazon Prime Maximum saving: £36 per year 6 Scale back Prime and save Credit: Getty There are various ways you can cut the cost of Amazon Prime - and it really depends on how you use it. If you don't really get that many deliveries and just use Prime Video, there's a little-known discount available to everyone. An Amazon Prime Video only option costs £5.99 a month, versus the full-fat Amazon Prime that's £8.99 a month. Switch and save £3 a month - or £36 per year. If you want to keep Amazon Prime deliveries and everything else, there is a way to get that a bit cheaper too. O2 customers can add Prime to their overall bill for a £2 airtime discount. Don't forget, if you're a student, you can get Prime even cheaper with a huge six-month free trial. Cloud storage Maximum saving: £15.99 per year 6 There are loads of alternatives to iCloud Credit: Getty It's important to keep your precious photos safe by backing them up to a cloud service. iCloud is most popular for iPhone, starting at 99p a month for 50GB (£11.88 for a year), while Google Drive is £1.59 for 100GB (there's a cheaper annual version for £15.99). However, few realise there are free options right under their nose. There are several ways you can go about this. If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, you get free unlimited photo storage with Amazon Photos. Those who don't subscribe to Amazon Prime can access plenty of free options not tied to an existing subscription. For starters, everyone (iPhone or Android) get 15GB free with a Google account on Google Drive. You can spread your backups across several apps too, including: Box - 10GB free OneDrive - 5GB free Dropbox - 2GB free Amazon Photos - 5GB free (without a subscription) If you want to stick with iCloud, there is another way to cut the cost. Club together with family and get an Apple One subscription instead. The family plan costs £24.95 a month for six people (including yourself) which works out £4.16 each. You don't just get storage, you all get Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, so you could save further if you're subscribed to these or similar too. Spotify Maximum saving: £12 per year 6 A quick adjustment to Spotify can save up to £2 Credit: Getty Most people will know that the best way to reduce Spotify Premium costs is by joining with other household members. A family subscription with six members onboard costs £19.99, while an individual plan costs £11.99. Whether you're part of a family or individual plan, you can take the cost down by £2 or £1 a mont,h respectively. It turns out you're paying extra for the privilege of audiobooks. If this doesn't interest you, you can downgrade to Family Basic or Individual Basic - everything will be the same, you just won't be able to listen to audiobooks. Disney+ Maximum saving: £39.91 per year (plus free deliveries on takeaways) 6 Get Disney+ free - and other perks too Credit: Getty Disney+ is a favourite in many households, what with all the classic movies and new series like Only Murders In The Building and The Bear among others. A standard subscription comes in at £89.90 for the year. But you could trim almost £40 off and gain other benefits such as free and cheaper takeaway deliveries. Uber is giving away free Disney+ for up to a year when you subscribe to an annual Uber One pass. Uber One gives you discounts on rides as well, so you can really stretch those savings wider. Netflix Maximum saving: £84 per year 6 Time to downgrade Netflix for a massive £13 a month saving? Credit: Getty If you can't live without Netflix but hate paying £18.99 a month you might consider downgrading. The Standard with adverts option is £5.99 instead, saving a whooping £13 a month (or £84 for the year). As the name suggests, this means you will get advert breaks though - and the video quality is lower too. But for those that don't mind this is an easy saving. Give these simple switches a go and you could save well over £100.

Taycheedah man accused of virtual child porn seeks dismissal of 9 counts due to alleged First Amendment violations
DISCLAIMER: THIS STORY MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 20-year-old Taycheedah man charged with nine counts of possessing virtual child pornography and one count of resisting an officer has filed a motion to dismiss the possession charges, alleging an infringement on his First Amendment rights. According to a criminal complaint, Meillo Schneider was charged in November 2024 after a cyber tip was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in April 2024 by Amazon Photos' Trust and Safety Team. 'Serious risk of illness': Waters of Lake Winneconne Park closed, elevated levels of E. coli An investigation into the reports identified over 13,000 images of virtual child pornography. The complaint said that a Fond du Lac Police Detective said it was difficult to distinguish the images as either artificial intelligence (AI) generated or if they were of real and unknown victims. The complaint states that the photos were very realistic and showed children/infants performing sexual acts on adults or themselves in various and explicit ways. According to the complaint, during a search warrant on Schneider's residence in November, detectives asked him about the types of porn he watched, which he didn't want to reveal as he was in public, and 'hoped there was nothing wrong with a little self-relief.' Schneider was reportedly asked if he had seen anything illegal, as well. 'By this country's standards, sadly yes, but I would hope that this country also understands that I'm not going to re-distribute or like sell it,' Schneider reportedly said. 'I just want it for personal gratification.' Regarding the motion to dismiss, which was filed in a hearing on July 14, 2025, Schneider and his attorney sought to dismiss counts 1-7 and 9-10 (all of which are possession of virtual child pornography), arguing that prosecution for it would be a violation of his First Amendment rights. On April 8, 2025, the defense filed a 'Motion to Make More Definite and Certain' to request that the state explicitly define the alleged charges as to what Schneider is being prosecuted for. The motion to dismiss states that a hearing on May 12 revealed that the state 'would be proceeding on a theory of merely possession.' Schneider and his attorneys' motion to dismiss cites several recent court cases regarding the First Amendment, citing that it bars the government from controlling what people see, read, speak or hear. It did, however, acknowledge that there are limits, especially regarding pornography with 'real' children. One landmark case that was cited in the motion, New York v. Ferber, states that the First Amendment doesn't protect the sale or manufacturing of child sexual abuse material. But the motion also added that the Ferber case acknowledged an alternative. 'The Ferber Court recognized that some works of child pornography may have value and that virtual images were an alternative and permissible means of expression,' the motion reads. It also alleges that virtual child pornography does not directly relate to the sexual abuse of children. The motion also challenges a statute that Wisconsin passed in 2024, which imposed the same penalties for virtual child pornography (948.125) as it does for possessing child pornography. Click here to learn more about this bill. The motion continued, citing the landmark case Stanley v. Georgia, which ruled that the 'government's power to regulate obscenity does not extend to the regulation of simply possessing obscenity by a person in the privacy of their home.' According to the motion filed by Schneider's attorney, Timothy Hogan, the state is attempting to 'prosecute Mr. Schneider for the mere possession of obscene material,' which he claimed to be in direct violation of Schneider's First Amendment rights under Stanley v. Georgia. The motion argues that the statute passed in 2024 is unconstitutional in this specific case because of the ruling in Stanley v. Georgia. The following is a direct statement from the motion: 'The state did not charge Mr. Schneider with the possession of actual child pornography, and rightly so given the nature of the images he allegedly possessed. The state has chosen to prosecute Mr. Schneider for his alleged private possession of material it believes to be obscene, since if the materials were not obscene, his alleged conduct would not meet the elements of the offense. Because the First Amendment protects the right of Mr. Schneider to see or read or view obscene materials in the privacy of his own home, this prosecution directly implicates, and violates, the First Amendment. Thus, in order for this prosecution to stand and survive scrutiny, it is the state that bears the burden to establish, beyond a reasonable doubt, that its application of Wisconsin Statute section 948.125 against Mr. Schneider is constitutional.' Motion to dismiss filed by Attorney Timothy Hogan of Hogan Eickhoff, SC If this motion is granted, Schneider would still face one charge of misdemeanor resistance/obstruction of an officer.
