Elderly pedestrian killed after being run over in Tampin
TAMPIN: A 65-year-old man is believed to have been run over by several vehicles on Jalan Gemas-Tampin, here on Saturday morning (July 19). Tampin police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said police believed that during the 6.30am incident, the man was trying to cross the road. "Police received information at 7.15am and initial investigations found that the victim was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road. "Further investigations revealed that another vehicle may have also run over the victim, who was lying in the middle of the road after he was first knocked down," he said in a statement on Saturday. According to Amiruddien, the victim was wearing dark clothing, and the location had no street lighting. "His body was sent to Tampin Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added. – Bernama

Motorcyclist dies after crashing into stray in Tampin
TAMPIN: A 20-year-old motorcyclist died after reportedly colliding with a stray dog that suddenly darted across the road near Kampung Parit Buloh in Air Kuning Selatan late last night. The victim, who suffered serious head injuries in the 11pm accident, was confirmed dead two hours later while receiving treatment at a health clinic. Tampin police chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said the man had been en route to a burger stall when the incident occurred. He said preliminary investigations revealed the accident involved a Honda RS motorcycle ridden by the victim along an inner road in Kampung Parit Buloh. "The victim was travelling from his house in Kampung Parit Buloh to a burger stall in Taman Semarak, Air Kuning Selatan, when he crashed into a dog. "While riding along the road, the dog suddenly crossed into his path and he was unable to avoid it." Amiruddien said the impact caused the rider to lose control and was flung onto the road. He suffered severe injuries to the head. He was rushed to the Air Kuning Selatan health clinic, but was pronounced dead at 12.58am. The body has been sent to Tampin Hospital for a post-mortem today. Amiruddien said police have opened an investigation paper under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
