Meet Amit Damani, a school teacher who started his own business, turned Rs 5 crore venture to Rs 1400000000 empire, his business is…, net worth…

New Delhi: Amit Damani, a former Mumbai school teacher, has transformed his family villa into a business worth Rs 110 crore. In 2015, Amit co-founded Stay Vista along with Ankita Sheth and Pranav Maheshwari. Today, the company offers over 500 luxury villas in more than 50 locations in India. In this article, we will look into Amit Damani's journey to success. How it all started: Amit Damani, along with Ankita Sheth and Pranav Maheshwari, co-founded Stay Vista in 2015. During the initial days, the company was called Vista Rooms. It collaborated with small hotels and homes to offer rooms on rent. In 2017, Amit transformed Vista Rooms into Stay Vista, shifting the focus to luxury villas. According to Amit, the idea came from his family's villa located in Lonavala. Lonavala is 83 kilometers from Mumbai. Amit's grandmother, who is from Varanasi, moved to Mumbai after marriage. Before marriage, she used to live in large houses with spacious open lawns. That was difficult to find in Mumbai. So, Amit's grandfather built a villa for her in the beautiful hill town of Lonavala. Amit decided to talk to her grandmother before renting out the villa. He explained to her that the property would remain with them, but it would be well-maintained and also generate income. She agreed. As the idea grew, their relatives, friends, and acquaintances registered their properties with StayVista under management contracts. In this way, a successful network of villas was built. All You Need to Know About StayVista StayVista began its journey in the first year with 50 properties. In the second year, this number grew to 100, then to 300 in the third year, and now the company manages over 550 properties. The company's revenue also saw a significant rise — from Rs 5 crore in 2018 to Rs 40 crore in 2020, and now it has crossed ₹110 crore. StayVista currently offers two types of villas One category includes properties with 6–8 rooms and 4-star hotel amenities; the other features villas with 12–15 rooms and 5-star facilities. The smallest property listed on StayVista is a one-room cottage in Ooty and Mukteshwar. The largest villa is a 13-room cottage located near Mumbai in Alibaug. Among their unique offerings are historical estates like the Khohar Haveli on the outskirts of Delhi, built in the 1800s, and the Normandy House in Dehradun, constructed in the 1700s by a Frenchman. They also offer villas set amid tea and coffee plantations.

StayVista forays into branded residences, targets Rs 250 crore in FY26

The villa rental platform, with a leisure-city portfolio target of 80:20, enters metro markets and aims to expand in Delhi-NCR, Pune, Mumbai and Bengaluru Luxury villa rental firm StayVista forayed into the branded residences market earlier this month as domestic travel continues to see increased activity. The company currently has a negligible city-location portfolio but aims to increase the leisure-city mix to 80:20 in the next two–three years. "While the market is still nascent, demand is definitely growing. We wanted to offer people a home-like experience in metro cities for people who are away from homes for a longer duration," Amit Damani, co-founder, StayVista, told Business Standard. Starting in Delhi–NCR, where it currently has three residence properties, it plans to expand the offering to new geographies like Pune, Mumbai and Bengaluru. With this new foray, the company is eyeing an additional revenue of Rs 25 crore. "In residences, we are seeing a bigger demand for shorter stays — typically for two nights, but almost 20 per cent of the demand is for longer stays spanning a fortnight," Damani said. "The offering is visibly different from our leisure offerings and as many as 30 per cent of our bookings are for entire apartments, while a majority are for separate individual bedrooms within a larger apartment," he added. With an aim of launching an initial public offering in 2028, the company plans to cross Rs 250 crore in revenue in financial year 2025–26 (FY26). In FY25, the company has grown to a portfolio size of 1,000 villas and recorded revenue of Rs 120 crore, with a net profit of over Rs 2 crore.
