1 detained in Chhapra double murder
Chhapra: A day after the double murder, including of a Godrej showroom owner, in the town's Mufassil police station area on Tuesday night, Saran police detained one suspect on Wednesday.
Saran senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kumar Ashish has also formed a special investigation team to probe into the double murder.
He said they have got some clues on the basis of CCTV camera footage from the crime spot at Uma Nagar Mohalla, which however, couldn't be disclosed for the sake of investigation.
Godrej showroom owner Amrendra Kumar Singh and his friend Shambhu Singh, alias Mukhiya, were shot dead near in Uma Nagar Mohalla when they were on a bike.
The miscreants pumped a bullet in the head of Shambhu, while Amrendra hit in abdomen. Both were rushed to the sadar hospital where doctors declared them dead.
The bodies were handed to the family members after postmortem on Wednesday morning, after which a huge crowd reached the residence of the SSP with the body of Amrendra, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. They were pacified by the SSP, who assured them of action against the accused.
The body of Singh was finally consigned to flames at Simaria Ghat on the banks of holy river Saryu in Revilganj block. The last rite was performed by his eldest son. The body of Shambhu was sent to his village in Marhaura police station area.
Of late, Amrendra had turned into social activism as well, besides his business and dealing in land.
