
1 detained in Chhapra double murder
Chhapra: A day after the double murder, including of a Godrej showroom owner, in the town's Mufassil police station area on Tuesday night, Saran police detained one suspect on Wednesday.
Saran senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kumar Ashish has also formed a special investigation team to probe into the double murder.
He said they have got some clues on the basis of CCTV camera footage from the crime spot at Uma Nagar Mohalla, which however, couldn't be disclosed for the sake of investigation.
Godrej showroom owner Amrendra Kumar Singh and his friend Shambhu Singh, alias Mukhiya, were shot dead near in Uma Nagar Mohalla when they were on a bike.
The miscreants pumped a bullet in the head of Shambhu, while Amrendra hit in abdomen. Both were rushed to the sadar hospital where doctors declared them dead.
The bodies were handed to the family members after postmortem on Wednesday morning, after which a huge crowd reached the residence of the SSP with the body of Amrendra, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. They were pacified by the SSP, who assured them of action against the accused.
The body of Singh was finally consigned to flames at Simaria Ghat on the banks of holy river Saryu in Revilganj block. The last rite was performed by his eldest son. The body of Shambhu was sent to his village in Marhaura police station area.
Of late, Amrendra had turned into social activism as well, besides his business and dealing in land.

CCTV Shows Thief Stealing Cash, Gold Disguised As Wedding Guest
A man came to a wedding as a guest in Mauganj, Madhya Pradesh, but turned out to be a thief, who stole cash and jewellery worth lakhs. The shocking incident took place at Shagun Palace where the thief infiltrated the function and mingled with other guests. Yogendra Chaturvedi's family had kept Rs 1 lakh in cash and a 200-gram gold mangalsutra in a suitcase on the first floor. In another incident, a man carrying a garland made of currency notes worth Rs 14.5 lakh was robbed at gunpoint when he was returning from a wedding in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan's Alwar district. The June 1 incident left the victim with head injuries. In 2024, Madhya Pradesh police arrested three members of the Kadiya gang allegedly involved in stealing a bag of jewellery from a hotel in Jaipur during a wedding function. According to an official, they seized valuables worth Rs 1.45 crore from the accused. The incident occurred on August 8, 2024, after which the Rajgarh police formed seven teams based on inputs provided to them and caught the gang members. During the analysis of the CCTV footage, a minor and his companions were seen fleeing after taking the bag, prompting the Jaipur police to issue an alert to neighbouring states, Additional Director General of Police Jaideep Prasad said.

Man dies after falling down from flyover in Kodigehalli
A 25-year-old man died after falling down from the flyover under mysterious circumstances in Kodigehalli on Sunday night . The deceased has been identified as Muniraju, a resident of Shivashankar Layout in Hebbal, who worked as an accountant at a private firm. He left home to meet a friend and later fell down from over the 30-ft. high flyover, said the police. Passers-by who noticed him lying in a pool of blood alerted the police. The Kodigehalli police rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a private hospital where he was declared as brought dead. The police recovered a scooter parked on the side of the flyover and initiated a probe to ascertain the cause of death. The police are verifying the mobile phone recovered from Muniraju and the CCTv camera footages from in and around to ascertain the cause of death.

Four youths held for placing boulders on railway track in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Four youths were arrested on Saturday night for placing boulders on a railway track and damaging the signal box near the Coimbatore railway station. Govt railway police (GRP) identified the arrested youths as M Bhuvanesh Kumar, 20, R Vincent Raj, 24, P Sathish Kumar, 20, and VS Vijay Shankar, 22, all from Thoothukudi district. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now All four work at a garment company in Tirupur and had come to Coimbatore by train, to visit Sathish Kumar's younger brother who works in a textile mill at Thennampalayam in Coimbatore district. On reaching the city, they tried to reach Sathish Kumar's younger brother by phone, but he did not answer their call. The four who were under the influence of alcohol, were then roaming at the railway station. A while later they walked at least 30 metres away from the station to relieve themselves. They suddenly threw stones at the signal box and went on to place large boulders on the track. The incident came to light when railway authorities checked after they did not receive signal from the box, prompting them to stop the Cheran express train for a while on Saturday night. Officials promptly removed four large boulders from the track and rectified the signal box. The four accused were identified through CCTV camera footage and subsequently arrested from the station premises. They were remanded in judicial custody on Sunday.
