New Delhi: Mohit Suri, who launched newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in his latest film Saiyaara, talked about how he cast Amrita Singh in a scene-stealing role for his second film Kalyug. During a conversation with Radio Nasha, Mohit Suri shared Amrita Singh was going through her divorce when she was approached for the film. She was shooting for Kavyanjali at the time, so we went to the set to meet her. I narrated the story to her, saying I wanted her to play a character who dominated a male-dominated industry, a very strong female character. But while watching her, as I was narrating, I was subconsciously thinking something," recalled Mohit Suri. "And after finishing the narration, she said, 'Yeah, I'll do it.' Then Kunal and I left. But on the way back, I told Kunal to immediately turn the car around, saying we made a mistake and needed to go back. We returned, and I told her, 'We made a mistake, ma'am. You be exactly who you are, we want you just like that.' She said, 'Yes, I was thinking the same, that who can dominate me? I am already dominating.' And I said, 'Yes, yes, we want you exactly as you are,'" said Mohit Suri. Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh's Divorce Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's divorce made as much noise as their wedding. 'A journalist actually called her and told her that I am so proud of the way you have brought up your daughter. I have a photo of her on a local train, can I print it?" Sara recounted. Naturally, Amrita was furious — not because of the ride itself, but because she had kept it a secret. 'She was really upset because I was young and there had just been an accident on the local train. She told me to be careful and just basically not lie about my location," Sara said, calling the memory 'not fun." Sara also opened up in a past interview with Hindustan Times about how negativity on social media affects her mother. 'I can fully understand that this is some nameless, frustrated person. But maa toh maa hoti hai. That's the only thing that really gets to me. If I could block her social media, I wouldn't give a damn!" 'She reads and pretends there is nothing," Sara added. 'It's like the elephant in the room we don't address. But, I know she has read something sad. She doesn't address it, but I can see it on her face. Mujhe acha nahi lagta." Sara is currently basking in the release of Metro… In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu. The ensemble film features a powerhouse cast including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, and others. The film hit theatres on July 4.
