Woman turns little-known side hustles into main job and makes £6,300 in a month

Amy Baldwin says her impressive takings from 13 side hustle income streams has enabled her to give up her day job – and she's now revealed how you can emulate her success A woman who claims her side hustles have become so successful she's been able to quit her day job has opened up on how you could do the same. Amy Baldwin says she has made a staggering £6,300 in July alone. She told her TikTok viewers: "My additional income streams are now my sole income stream." ‌ Amy explained that she set up her enterprises around 15 months ago simply to raise funds for a holiday, but it soon became apparent that she could turn the project into a full time job. Her success is now enabling her to transform her garage and garden studio into a base, enabling her to go "even further" with her business. ‌ Elaborating on how she's done it, Amy revealed that she has 11 income streams "coming into one pot", which she detailed in order of takings from low to high. ‌ The first of those is via a pet-sitting service that brought in just over £30 for a one-night stay, with her second stream coming from Top Cashback - a commission based service that earns as you spend via certain retailers. "I get a combination of referral money and my own," Amy advised. "You get £35 every time you refer somebody." Similarly, Amy made another modest amount through another cashback service involving games, surveys and TikTok videos simply called Cashback, whilst TikTok's own Creator Rewards Fund has become it's own side hustle. ‌ Amy continued, explaining that her eBay sales - which she pays tax on - has brought in a three-figure sum, whilst she runs her own Etsy store selling jewellery online. She added: "We made £241.01 in July." In more uncommon circumstances, Amy went on to disclose that she is part of a hosting international students programme and currently she has two boys from Germany residing with her, Monday to Friday. ‌ "We don't do it as much anymore," she added. "Last year it was one of our biggest income streams, but now we don't do it as much." Back to more familiar means, Amy said Vinted also brings her in a tidy sum, whilst another cashback site known as Custard has earned her money through games, free trials and other services. "I'm really chuffed about this," Amy said, ahead of revealing her second most fruitful income stream. "I've been working really hard on my digital products - we have trackers, savings plans, a reseller guide and financial guide - and very soon we are going to have the Hustle Mumma blueprint, which is literally my blueprint into every side hustle that I do. These have brought us in £451.65 this month." ‌ With just one hustle left, it posed the question, "where is the bulk of the money coming from?" Happy to share her secrets to success, Amy revealed it's come from a platform called "Tilt". She explained: "It is a live auction selling app... "The income is a combination of my sales, and the incentives and bonuses they offer - and you get referral money if you recommend buyers and sellers - it's a combination of all of it." Closing, Amy hailed: "In total it has brought me in £4,316.07 - and I would say that 90% of that is the selling - that's me selling on there. Tilt has literally changed my life. So that is how we have made £6,330.65 [in July, 2025]." Further details of Amy's Hustle Mumma digital products can be found here.

Do I need to pay tax on my side hustle income? MANY people feeling strapped for cash are boosting their bank balance with a side hustle. The good news is, there are plenty of simple ways to earn some additional income - but you need to know the rules. When you're employed the company you work for takes the tax from your earnings and pays HMRC so you don't have to. But anyone earning extra cash, for example from selling things online or dog walking, may have to do it themselves. Stephen Moor, head of employment at law firm Ashfords, said: "Caution should be taken if you're earning an additional income, as this is likely to be taxable. "The side hustle could be treated as taxable trading income, which can include providing services or selling products." You can make a gross income of up to £1,000 a year tax-free via the trading allowance, but over this and you'll usually need to pay tax. Stephen added: "You need to register for a self-assessment at HMRC to ensure you are paying the correct amount of tax. "The applicable tax bands and the amount of tax you need to pay will depend on your income." If you fail to file a tax return you could end up with a surprise bill from HMRC later on asking you to pay the tax you owe - plus extra fees on top. Etsy Amy has her own jewellery shop on Etsy, and made £241 from sales last month. Hosting international students The savvy saver and her family host international students and currently have two boys from Germany staying with them Monday to Friday. "We have had two sets of students this month, and it has brought us in £280", she said. Vinted Amy said that she hasn't used Vinted much lately, but was still able to cash in £285 from selling old clothes. Custard The final cashback site that Amy makes money from is called Custard, and also pays you for doing games and surveys. She revealed that you also get £5 everytime somebody you have referred to the site cashes out £10. The side hustling whizz was able to make a whopping £315 from Custard last month. Digital products Amy's second biggest earner is from selling digital products, which refers to anything that you can buy in digital form, such as an online course or guide. She makes money from selling a financial guide, and will soon be selling The Hustle Mumma Blueprint. "It's literally the blueprint to every side hustle that I do", she said. Digital products brought in £451.65 for Amy last month. Live selling By far Amy's biggest earner, live selling made her £4316. Tilt is a live auction selling app where customers bid on items in real-time, kind of like an in person auction. Amy sells clothes using the app, and also gets money from referrals. "Tilt has literally changed my life", she said.
