Dehradun: Chief secretary Anand Bardhan emphasised the need to plan development on the lines of model villages, cities, and districts, during a review meeting held in Dehradun on Tuesday. "Each district should prepare a 10-year development plan," Bardhan said, urging all districts to set clear, long-term goals. He mentioned that Uttarakhand would soon identify a location to be developed according to global standards and stressed the importance of initiating work on this promptly. Bardhan also highlighted the need to boost exports of products manufactured within the state and to promote indigenous goods. He directed the industry department to prepare a comprehensive plan for this purpose. Bardhan underscored the importance of integrating new technologies into planning and operations to ensure that govt schemes and services effectively reach the public. He also pointed to the growing importance of the electric vehicle sector and called for focused efforts to advance EV adoption in the state. Additionally, he emphasised the need to align training in emerging technologies with education and skill development initiatives. District magistrates from across the state participated in the meeting via video conferencing. During the session, Bardhan also received detailed updates on the COVID-19 situation from health secretary R Rajesh Kumar.

ANI 29 Apr 2025, 06:28 GMT+10 Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], April 29 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting at the Secretariat with the officials of Integrated Metropolitan Transport Authority and other concerned officials regarding the traffic system of Dehradun city and gave necessary directions. According to a release on Monday, the Chief Secretary also received updated information from officials regarding the decisions made in previous meetings. He stated that the plan prepared to address the traffic congestion issue in Dehradun city should be implemented as soon as possible. As per the release, the Chief Secretary directed the Secretary Public Works Department to prepare DPR by taking immediate action to improve the 10 identified intersections of the city with traffic congestion. He directed the District Magistrate and SSP Dehradun to ensure strict compliance of traffic rules. For this, continuous campaigns should be run. He said that new parking spaces should be identified within the city. He also talked about communicating with the school management and parents to make some changes in the school opening and closing time. According to the release, the Chief Secretary directed the MDDA to expedite the process for shifting the Aadhat Bazaar. He said that the work of allotment of plots to the traders should be ensured soon. While setting the deadline for completion of work at every level for shifting Aadhat Bazar, he directed to ensure strict adherence to the said calendar. He also directed to conduct a survey of parking spaces of commercial complexes and shopping malls. He said that action should be taken against those commercial complexes and shopping malls which are not using their parking. As per the release, the Chief Secretary said that 'traffic parks should be prepared to create awareness about traffic rules among people and the coming generation.' He also directed the concerned departments to remove encroachments from the footpaths and shift utilities. He said that vehicles are again being parked on the sides of the widened roads, resulting in a situation similar to before. He said that strict action should also be taken against those who park incorrectly. (ANI)

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan visited Kedarnath Dham on Saturday to inspect the ongoing preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Chardham Yatra. He also inspected the cleanliness system from the temple complex to Aastha Path, built on the banks of the Saraswati River, and checked the condition of the toilets installed there. Additionally, he instructed the officials of the Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation (GMVN) to complete the repair of all cottages built along the Yatra route on time and ensure their cleanliness. He said that all the arrangements should be completed in a timely and smooth manner so that no traveller faces any inconvenience during the journey. Live Events During the inspection, the Chief Secretary also inspected Rudra Point and Ghoda Padao. At these places, he reviewed the crowd management of the travellers, drinking water, medical, rest and cleanliness arrangements, the statement further read. District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar informed the Chief Secretary that all the departments related to the Kedarnath Yatra are working in mutual coordination. All necessary arrangements, from the Yatra route to the Dham area, have been completed on time. Whatever work is left will also be completed before the start of the Yatra. The District Magistrate said that the walking path, accommodation arrangements, cleanliness, health services, drinking water, electricity supply, communication facilities and emergency arrangements have been made perfect. Basic facilities have also been ensured at all stops for the convenience of pilgrims. Superintendent of Police Akshay Prahlad Konde said that all necessary arrangements have been completed from the security point of view. Deployment of the police force has been ensured on the travel route. Officers and police personnel have been instructed to regularly check the travel route. He said that a detailed traffic plan has already been prepared to maintain smooth traffic during the travel period, so that there is no jam at any place. Disaster management teams by the police and administration will also be active on the travel route, so that quick action can be taken in case of any emergency.
