Rlys seeks land back from state after 93 yrs
Jamshedpur: The Chakradharpur rail division has requested the administration of East Singhbhum district hand over 339.25 acres of land back to their possession. The land parcel was transferred to the then Bihar govt for safe custody in 1931, division's officials said. Manish Kumar, senior divisional engineer (East) of Chakdradharpur division, wrote a letter to deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal on May 7 requesting the transfer of land for carrying out planned railway development projects. Kumar in his letter said the land parcel will be used to carry out the redevelopment of Tatanagar railway station , which will be developed in to a world class station at a cost of Rs 348 crore, along with building new quarters for railway employees, offices, commercial spaces, a market complex, playground and a community hall. The official added that the planned projects were getting delayed due to unavailability of land. "The letter has been received and is being looked into," Bhagirath Prasad, additional deputy commissioner, said. The redevelopment of Tatanagar railway station will need dismantling of 250 railway quarters, offices, telephone and electric poles, electric transformers and commercial establishment but there is no vacant land for relocation. Around 2.5 lakh people live on the land across Bagbera and Jugsalai presently.

Toll free number issued for people to alert admin in fight against narcotics
1 2 Jamshedpur: Aiming to involve the community in its fight against the growing use of narcotic substances in the society, the East Singhbhum district administration has issued a toll free number with an appeal to the people to alert the administration on sighting the transportation, stocking, sale and consumption of the substance. People can call on 112 or 0657-2431028 toll free numbers and cooperate with the administration in the prevention of the use of the banned substance, said DC Ananya Mittal. Further, police station wise awareness programmes with the schools will be organised to educate the young population about the physical, mental and economical implications of the consumption of drugs and substances. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) volunteers will join the awareness sessions to make the students and their respective parents comprehend the ill effects of the use of the narcotic materials. Besides, the Prahari clubs, which is a body in the schools to regulate the campaign against the use of narcotics, will be strengthened for effective awareness programmes, the DC said. Earlier, on Wednesday, the DC reviewed the activities of the District Narcotics Coordination Committee (DNCC) and issued fresh directions. Apart from the above mentioned measures, the district agriculture officer will conduct surveys of the agricultural fields to identify the poppy plantation sites and coordinate with concerned agencies for preventive action. The measures which would come into effect from the third week of May have been taken following the arrest of 36 people in 13 separate cases lodged under NDPS Act between January and April this year. Besides, 87 kgs of cannabis have been recovered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Tatanagar railway station in the first four months of the current year.

Finish RTE admissions in 3 days: East S'bhum DC to pvt schools
Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal on Wednesday directed private English medium schools to complete the admission of candidates belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) under the Right to Education Act (RTE)-2009 within three days. This year, 3,094 applications were received against the 1,504 seats available for admission under the EWS quota in the over 60 English schools. A total of 1,303 candidates qualified. However, only 726 got enrolled. The DC also asked the district education officials to inquire into the delay and verify if the reasons were genuine. Deliberate attempts to delay the admission of rightful candidates would prompt the administration to take action against the offending schools. The education department issued two links — and — to enable the parents to know the status of their children's admission by filling in the application form number and contact 25% seats are reserved for EWS candidates at the entry level under the RTE Act, 2009.

Maiya accounts under scanner in E S'bhum
1 2 Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal on Tuesday directed all the block development officers (BDO) and circle officers (CO) to verify the accounts of all beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana in the DC issued the direction for verification following a preliminary review that found multiple beneficiaries linked to 2,912 bank accounts in the district. The findings revealed that two to four beneficiaries were linked to a single bank account across the 11 blocks, which is against the provisions of the MMSY the scheme, women aged between 18-49 years are entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs 2, BDOs and Cos were asked to complete the verification and submit their reports within three working days. "Those who took undue advantage of the scheme will face legal action. The money will be retrieved from the dubious beneficiaries. Strict action will be taken against govt officials, if any, found to be involved in the scam," Mittal said after the meeting.

Jharkhand: East Singhbhum DC instructs BDOs, CIs to probe list of Maiyan Samman Yojana beneficiaries
Jamshedpur, Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal on Monday raised concerns over possible irregularities in the ambitious Maiyan Samman Yojana and directed all block development officers and circle inspectors to conduct investigations and submit reports within three working days. Following a preliminary inquiry, Mittal said it has come to notice that several beneficiaries of the scheme had received funds through the same bank account — an act in violation of the scheme's guidelines. "All BDOs and CIs have been directed to verify the list of bona fide beneficiaries within their respective jurisdictions and submit a report to the district headquarters within three working days," an official statement said. According to the statement, two or more beneficiaries were found to have availed the benefits from 2,912 bank accounts across the district. The highest numbers of such cases were reported from the following circles and blocks: Potka , Jamshedpur Circle , Golmuri-cum-Jugsalai , Mango Circle , Ghatsila , Bodam , Chakulia Block , Gurabandha , Patamda , Dumaria , Baharagora , Musabani , Dhalbhumgarh and Chakulia Circle , the statement added. Issuing a strict warning, Mittal said, "Such irregularities will not be tolerated at any cost. The names of ineligible beneficiaries will be removed from the list, and the amount disbursed will be recovered from them." He further warned that departmental action would be taken against any official or employee found involved in such fraudulent practices. The Maiyan Samman Yojana aims to financially empower needy and eligible women, and the benefits are meant to reach the rightful recipients only. The district administration also appealed to the public and recipients of the scheme to provide accurate information. "If anyone has knowledge of irregularities under the scheme, they should come forward and inform the administration, which will take prompt action," the statement added.
