Police lay charges following shooting in Halifax
Three people have been charged with firearm offences following a shooting in Halifax on Thursday.
Police say they received multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Buddy Daye and Gottingen Streets around 3:30 p.m., but the suspects fled before police arrival. No injuries were reported.
According to a news release, officers executed a search warrant on a home in the 3400 block of Barrington Street around 10 p.m.
During the search, three people were arrested and a firearm was seized.
Anaysia Riley, 20, is set to appear in provincial court in Halifax on Friday to face charges of:
- discharge of a firearm with intent
- use of a firearm in commission of an offence
- pointing a firearm
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
- possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorised
- possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- unsafe storage of a firearm
- possession of a firearm in a vehicle
A 46-year-old woman and 17-year-old youth were also arrested during the search. Both are set to appear in provincial court in Halifax to face charges of:
- possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
- unsafe storage of a firearm
