Original ‘Hamilton' Cast To Reunite At Tony Awards
The original Broadway cast of Hamilton will reunite at this year's Tony Awards to mark the 10th anniversary of Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical. The 78th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, airs on CBS Sunday, June 8. Hamilton debuted Off Broadway at the Public Theater in 2015, transferring to Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre that year. At the 70th Annual Tony Awards, Hamilton made history with a record-breaking 16 nominations and 11 wins, including Best Musical. The show went on to receive the Grammy Award, Olivier Award, Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. Most recently, its Original Broadway Cast Recording became the first in history to be certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Stars James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale lead Broadway show Art
NEW YORK – Broadway's run of starry plays shows no signs of slowing down. English comedian James Corden and American actors Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale will return to Broadway in a revival of Art, a Yasmina Reza comedy that explores what happens to a three-way friendship when one of the men spends a lot of money on a painting that is mostly a white canvas. First staged in France in 1994, the show made it to Broadway in 1998, and won the Tony Award for best play that season. It has been widely staged in the years since its debut. The revival is scheduled to begin performances on Aug 28 and to open Sept 16 at the Music Box Theatre. It is expected to run through Dec 21. The new production will be directed by Scott Ellis, a Broadway regular who is currently serving as interim artistic director of Roundabout Theater Company and who directed the 2025 production of Pirates! The Penzance Musical. The show is being produced by Sand & Snow Entertainment, a company founded by Michael Shulman, as well as by ATG Productions, led by Adam Speers, and Gavin Kalin. This star-led production is the latest example of a growing trend: Broadway producers are turning to limited-run plays featuring TV and film celebrities because those shows seem more likely to succeed. At a time when almost every new musical is failing financially, six of this season's plays have become profitable: Oh, Mary!, All In: Comedy About Love, Romeo + Juliet, Othello, Glengarry Glen Ross and Good Night, And Good Luck. Among those, Othello, Good Night, And Good Luck, and Glengarry Glen Ross star Oscar winners Denzel Washington, George Clooney and Kieran Culkin respectively. Corden, Harris and Cannavale are not just stars of the big and small screen – all three are experienced and accomplished stage performers. Corden and Harris are Tony winners – Corden in 2012 for One Man, Two Guvnors, and Harris in 2014 for Hedwig And The Angry Inch. Cannavale is a two-time Tony nominee. Joseph McCarthy, who accused -- many times falsely -- high-profile people of being communists or under Soviet influence in the 1940s and '50s. ‘Glengarry Glen Ross' Recoups Broadway Investment
Glengarry Glen Ross, the hit Broadway revival of the David Mamet play starring Kieran Culkin, Bill Burr and Bob Odenkirk, has recouped its investment, producers announced today. Financial details were not disclosed. The recoupment marks the third such announcement in recent weeks, following similar announcements for Othello starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal , and Good Night, And Good Luck starring George Clooney. The three starry productions are among the biggest hits of Broadway's spring 2025 season. Glengarry Glen Ross producers also announced that the play raised a total of $238,343 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids during its annual Red Bucket campaign, making it the first runner up for a Broadway play.
