The department has instructed district collectors and district education officers (DEOs) across the state to organise a 10-day 'Badi-Bata' campaign, starting from June 6. Teachers and principals will visit residential colonies within their respective school limits to interact directly with school-age children and their parents, and encourage them to opt for govt school education.
The new academic year is set to begin on June 12, and officials are working on a war footing to ensure readiness.
As part of the campaign, the academic performance of class 10 students from each school in the district will be showcased through large flex banners and posters, highlighting success stories to position govt schools as competitive alternatives to private institutions.
A special focus is being given on bringing back school dropouts. Officials are devising strategies to sensitise parents about the legal consequences of child labour and the importance of education.
Specific measures are also being implemented to ensure the enrolment of children belonging to migrant labour families near their current locations.
Daily reports on the progress of the school walk campaign are being compiled by mandal education officers and DEOs and forwarded to the state education department for monitoring.
Meanwhile, preparations for school reopening are in full swing. Authorities in NTR, Krishna, and Guntur districts have already distributed essential school kits, including textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, and workbooks, to ensure students are fully equipped from their first day.
