Patriotic fervour marks Independence Day celebrations at APSLSA, AIIMS

Hoisting of the tricolour flags, cultural programmes depicting Indian tradition and culture and contingent parades marked the 79th Independence Day celebrations on 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal across Andhra Pradesh on Friday, with flag hoisting, cultural programmes, and parades marking the occasion. At the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) office in Amaravati, Executive Chairman Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari unfurled the tricolour. APSLSA Member Secretary B.S.V. Himabindu, A.P. High Court Legal Services Committee Secretary G. Malathi, Deputy Secretary H. Amararangeswara Rao, and other officers participated in the celebrations. At the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, Executive Director Ahanthem Santa Singh hoisted the national flag. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Santa Singh lauded the dedication of doctors, faculty, administrative staff, and students in upholding quality healthcare and medical education. On the occasion, faculty members, administrative staff, housekeeping and security personnel, and students were felicitated for their exemplary performance and contributions to the institute's growth. Independence Day was also observed with fervour across government departments, schools, colleges, and other institutions in the State, with cultural programmes highlighting India's rich heritage and values.

APSLSA opens legal aid services centre for soldiers, ex-service personnel

The Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) has opened a Legal Aid Services Centre under the aegis of 'NALSA Veer Seva Sahayata Yojana – 2025', here on Saturday (July 26). ACB Special Court judge P. Bhaskar Rao, who is also the Mandal Legal Services Committee in-charge Chairman, inaugurated the new centre at State Sainik Board. APSLSA member-secretary B.S.V. Himabindu, deputy secretary H. Amararangeswara Rao and other officers participated. Free legal aid will be given to soldiers, ex-service personnel and their family members at the Legal Aid Services Centre, said Ms. Himabindu, adding that steps are being taken to open more such centres across the State.

District principal judge inspects hostels in Anantapur

Anantapur: As per the instructions of the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Amaravati, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Anantapur Chairman and District Principal Judge E Bheemarao conducted a surprise inspection of the S C College Hostel, S C Girls Hostel and B C Girls Hostel on Tuesday. During the visit, the Principal Judge enquired about the facilities and services being provided to the students. He also inspected the kitchen and food preparation areas to assess hygiene and quality. N Rajasekhar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Anantapur, explained the services provided by the DLSA and created awareness among students about the 1098 Child Helpline and how to use it in times of need. Hostel wardens were also present during the inspection and interacted with the visiting officials.
