Sivanath elected ACA resident unanimously
Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP and newly-elected Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) president Kesineni Sivanath announced plans to enhance cricket infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh and elevate the association's reputation. On Saturday, Kesineni Sivanath was unanimously elected as ACA president during a meeting at the Vijayawada Club in Tadepalli. The ACA members also elected a new executive committee for the 2025–2028 term. Sivanath, popularly known as Chinni, will serve as president, with MP Sana Satish Babu as secretary, Dandamudi Srinivas as treasurer, B Vijay Kumar as joint secretary, and Dandu Gaur Vishnu Tej as councillor. Addressing the media, Sivanath outlined ACA's commitment to improving infrastructure and facilities for athletes statewide. He revealed plans to appoint coaches and support staff to help players secure opportunities in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also expressed delight at the success of the ongoing Andhra Premier League in Vizag, noting growing support from sports enthusiasts across the state. He emphasised that over the next three years, the ACA's apex body would make inclusive decisions involving all general body members to further enhance the association's stature. Newly elected secretary Sana Satish Babu thanked the apex body for the unanimous election of the new committee. He clarified that only one nomination, from Bandaru Narasimha Rao, was received for the vice-president's post but was rejected due to incomplete documentation. Election for the vice-president position is scheduled for next month. Satish Babu said ACA had made significant decisions over the past 11 months and pledged to continue bold initiatives in the coming years, focusing on player participation, funding, coaching appointments, and stadium development. Former ACA joint secretary and MLA P Vishnukumar Raju attended the meeting.

APL-4 Set to Kick Off in Visakhapatnam
The Andhra Premier League (APL) is ready to launch its fourth edition, with the inaugural ceremony scheduled for Friday at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, the Chairman of APL, announced that the event will feature seven competing teams. Union Minister Rammohan Naidu will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony, while renowned film actor Venkatesh serves as the league's brand ambassador. In an exciting development, the winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of Rs. 35 lakhs, with the runner-up receiving Rs. 25 lakhs. Rao highlighted the inclusion of under-16 players, emphasising that promising talents showcased during the league may have bright prospects in the future. Notably, selectors from the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be present to scout for talent throughout the matches. The tournament will also implement the Decision Review System (DRS) for the first time. Entry to the matches will be free, and they will be broadcast live on Sony Sports. Competing teams this season include Simhadri Vizag, Tungabhadra Warriors, Royals of Rayalaseema, Kakinada Kings, Vijayawada Sunshine, Bhimavaram Bulls, and Amaravati Royals.

Intense player auction sets stage for action-packed APL Season Four
VISAKHAPATNAM: The stage is set for Season 4 of the Andhra Premier League (APL) with seven franchises participating in a high-stakes player auction at Radisson Blu in Visakhapatnam recently, where all-rounders commanded top prices. A total of 520 cricketers took part in the auction, competing for contracts across the seven teams. Each franchise was allowed to build a squad of 18 to 20 players, working within a purse limit of Rs 45 lakh. The bidding was intense, especially for quality all-rounders. The participating teams are the Royals of Rayalaseema, Bhimavaram Bulls, Simhadri Vizag Lions, Tungabhadra Warriors, Vijayawada Sunshiners, Kakinada Kings and Amaravati Royals. With the expansion of teams and squad sizes, 20 more players than last season were picked up, giving new talent a platform to shine. APL Season 4 matches will be held from August 8 to 24 at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. 'The growing enthusiasm among cricket fans and franchises is a huge motivation for the Andhra Premier League,' said Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) President Keshineni Sivanath (Chinni). ACA Secretary Sana Satish Babu said, 'We are delighted to welcome new franchises into the APL family.'

APL Season-4 to commence from August 8
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Premier League (APL) governing council chairman RV Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish Babu mentioned that APL Season 4 provides a rare platform for aspiring cricketers in rural areas to showcase their talent and play at various tournaments, including IPLs and ODIs. Briefing the media about APL Season-4 details here on Saturday, Ranga Rao informed that the Season-4 matches are scheduled to commence from August 8. He said tournaments like APL would help in providing an exposure for the cricket players in rural areas. The APL will be a good platform to encourage and promote new talent in cricket, he informed. The governing council chairman mentioned that the franchise fee was Rs 75 lakh in the past and now it has been increased to Rs 2 crore. Further, he informed that seven franchises have come forward for APLSeason-4, while there were only six franchises in the past. The players' auction for APL Season-4 will be held on July 14 in Visakhapatnam. Some of the main players have been retained by the franchises. About 21 league matches and four play-offs and a total of 25 matches will be played as part of the season, Sujay Krishna added. ACA secretary Satish Babu mentioned that cricket players who perform in the APL will be given a chance in Andhra cricket team. He said steps are being taken to telecast these APL matches live on a leading channel. All matches will be played at Dr YSR ACA VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Next year, APL matches will be organised in Mangalagiri, Vizag and Kadapa stadiums, he added. Satish Babu informed that four or five new awards will be given to encourage cricket players in the APL and the prize money for them will be huge. Similarly, to encourage women cricket players in the State, Satish Babu said the ACA will host Andhra Cricket Women T20 League matches and the schedule will be released soon. He expressed confidence that more than 10 players from ACA will get a chance to play in the IPL this year.

APL Season 4 is set to begin from August 8
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Andhra Premier League (APL) Season 4 is set to begin from August 8 at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The details were announced at a press conference held at the stadium on Saturday by APL Governing Council Chairman Rao Venkata Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Sana Satish Babu. Ranga Rao said the tournament will be held in IPL format, and will be conducted in a more organised and grand manner than previous seasons. 'This year, seven franchises have come forward to participate, as compared to six in earlier seasons. The franchise fee, which was Rs 75 lakh in previous editions, has now been increased to Rs 2 crore. The player pool has also grown from 430 to 520 cricketers. Players have been divided into four categories including Top-seeded players (including former India and IPL players), Grade A (21 players), Grade B (112 players), and Grade C (378 players),' he said. The player auction will take place at Radisson Blu Hotel in Visakhapatnam on July 14. Teams have already retained some of their main players from previous seasons. This season will include 21 league matches and four playoffs, making it a total of 25 matches. Satish said all matches of this season will be held in Vizag. He informed that from next year, APL matches will be held in different regions, including Mangalagiri, Vizag, and Kadapa. He added that companies like Steel Exchange of India and Maitri have joined this season as franchise owners.
