Andrea Torres, Thea Tolentino, Arra San Agustin bond with rescued animals at PAWS
Andrea Torres, Thea Tolentino, and Arra San Agustin recently volunteered for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) where they visited and bonded with rescued animals. On Instagram, the Sparkle stars shared about what they learned from the meaningful activity. They also posted snaps of themselves interacting with PAWS' cats, dogs, and resident turtle, learning about the shelter's facilities, and preparing the animals' meals. According to Andrea, PAWS currently has 163 cats and 70 dogs under its care. In its facility, there are playgrounds for the animals to explore, as well as quarantine zones and designated spaces for animals who need extra care, such those with medical issues. She also encouraged her followers to volunteer and consider adopting rescues if they can. "It feels so good to help out. You'll also learn a lot about responsible pet ownership, and what to do if you ever come across an abandoned dog or cat. These animals deserve all the love in the world," she said. Thea, for her part, shared that some of the animals under PAWS' care have "trauma from bad experiences with humans." "Sa totoo lang, we can co-exist with these babies. People just need to learn how to respect and care for them. Kung ayaw niyo sa kanila, wag niyo na lang saktan please," she wrote. Arra also called their visit to PAWS the "most heartwarming experience," noting that each animal there has their own story. "Every single dog and cat there has a story, and all they want is a little love and a forever home. I'm so grateful for the chance to hang out with them," she said. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

Andrea Torres to shoot underwater scenes for 'Akusada'
Andrea Torres is gearing up to shoot underwater scenes for her upcoming series, "Akusada." In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Andrea said that her role as Carol embodies the diligence of Filipinos. "Makikita n'yo sa role ko 'yung pagiging masipag nating mga Pilipino, 'yung lahat kasi ng raket kaya niyang gawin basta marangal eh dahil andun lang talaga sa utak niya 'yung goal niya na gusto niya 'yung pamilya niya maging komportable ang buhay, sama-sama sila. 'Di ba gano'n tayo?" Andrea said. Andrea also expressed her enthusiasm in filming underwater scenes for the project. "Wala akong formal training pero hindi naman yata kailangan for this. Pero adventurous naman akong tao. Learning experience siya and gusto ko 'yung gan'yan. 'Yung nababasa ako, napapawisan ako, tumatakbo-takbo ako, type na type ko 'yung mga gan'yan," she said. Andrea will star with Benjamin Alves, who said that the story is beautiful and fast-paced. "Napakaganda at napakabilis po ng storya na 'to. Kumbaga po sa phase ng story, kung 'yung kadalasan na nasanay 'yung mga Kapuso natin na three weeks nilang aabangan, four weeks nilang aabangan, ngayon the same episode. 'Yung kung nando'n 'yung problema, nando'n na rin 'yung resolution," he said. The series will also star Lianne Valentine as the antagonist. "First day namin together, nasabunutan na po ako. Oo. At 'yung sabunot niya, hindi lang basta isa ha. Talagang routine po siya," Andrea said. "So far, so good 'yung chemistry namin together sa pag-arte sa mga scenes namin kasama si Ben. Talagang nagja-jive kami lahat," Lianne said. "Akusada" marks Andrea's return to GMA Afternoon Prime following "The Millionaire's Wife," where she worked alongside the late actress Jaclyn Jose. She fondly recalled their working dynamics, saying, "Kasi ang dynamics namin sa mga ganitong taping, chine-check niya 'yung mga performances ko."
