Hugh Jackman reveals what he REALLY thinks of Andy Lee's new Aussie-themed pub

Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman has weighed in on Andy Lee 's new pub in New York. Lee, 43, opened his Australian-themed pub, Old Mates, in Manhattan, back in February. And on Tuesday the Wolverine star, 56, took to social media to gush over the venture which is backed by an owner's group that includes Hamish Blake, surfing legend Mick Fanning, as well as Jackman himself. 'Old Mates - how Aussie's eat in NYC. This pub is amazing!' Jackman posted on Instagram. He also shared a gallery of snaps including one which shows the fan favourite flashing his famous grin and posing in front of the venue with his arm around Lee. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Jackman also shared a photo taken inside the bar with Lee and Australian-born NYC restaurateur Eddy Buckingham, who is also an investor in Old Mates. A third post shared to Hugh's account shows a stained glass window feature of the bar which spells out 'New York'. Located in Downtown Manhattan's Financial District, the pub is in a heritage-listed 1840s Greek Revival building that spans all three floors. With the staff dressed in iconic, hard-yakka-inspired blue collared shirts and rugby polos, the pub wouldn't look out of place in The Rocks or at the end of Collins Street. The investors also include Andy Stone (Bluestone Lane), Pat Cummins, Ash Barty, Mick Fanning and Patty Mills. It comes after Lee recently revealed how a tribute to Jackman in his pub went horribly wrong. Speaking to Nine Entertainment in May, the funnyman revealed that he wanted to place secret nods to the backers on the walls of the pub. 'I asked them what's their favourite pub in Australia, their favourite drink?' he said. 'There's little nods to all of them. Everyone's favourite pub in Australia is framed and hanging on the wall.' However, Jackman's tribute did not last the first full day of trading, falling victim to a workplace accident. 'Unfortunately we smashed Jackman's on day one accidentally,' Andy admitted. 'It was hanging above the register and one of the employees walked around the corner and knocked it off and smashed the glass!' The Hundred host did reveal however that Hugh's favourite place to grab a beer Down Under is the iconic Sydney watering hole The Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay. He first announced his plans to open a New York pub back in December last year.

EXCLUSIVE Andy Lee's mega-mansion causes division as neighbours complain of constant noise and no parking while years-long construction continues on three-storey Melbourne home

Andy Lee and fiancée Rebecca Harding may be on the verge of overstaying their welcome in Hawthorn as construction continues on their three-story mega-mansion. The funnyman, 43, and his partner, 35, have spent the last 18 months restoring a 150-year-old derelict home by the Yarra River in Melbourne. With huge plans to connect a modern build to the Italianate manor, and years longer to go, Daily Mail Australia can reveal the disruptive build has divided neighbours. 'It's noisy. It's been noisy... It's frustrating because it's been going for a year and we've still got a couple more years to go,' one disgruntled person said. Though they went on to add the 'earthworks' was the noisiest portion of the build, the neighbour said nowadays it has 'actually settled down quite a bit'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The funnyman and his partner have spent the last 18 months restoring a 150-year-old derelict home by the Yarra River in Melbourne 'Any building site is noisy... It's hard with parking. The parking is difficult, but any house renovation does that,' they continued. Another neighbour agreed, saying: 'There was digging every day between seven and three. That's ceased. 'At the moment it has quieted down. We've just accepted that it's happening.' Someone else took umbrage with how frequently builders were working on the site, and wondered if Andy knew how noisy the construction was. 'I will say they start at about 7.15am and finish at 5pm and it's been six days a week... It's been continuous noise,' they said. 'Now that they've started on the build, it's a lot of hammering and the builders do like their loud music. 'And of course the parking. It's wasn't considerate to the neighbours in that it was six days, not five days. I'm not sure Andy Lee is aware of the continuous noise. 'I think there could have been more consideration to the neighbours... I didn't realise it was three stories.' The source went on to say the radio star and his partner invited all the neighbours over to the home before they began renovations in 2023. 'We had a meet with him at about Christmas before last. He did show all the drawings,' they said. 'We had champagne and canapés, but I don't think we were aware of the disruptions it would cause... It's certainly changed the street the last 18 months. 'It doesn't bother me too much, but I can understand everybody else's problems. I don't know how the people right next door to it can stand it.' Others said while construction has certainly been noisy and disruptive, they have grown used to the sound as there are often renovations happening on the street. 'We're going with it. It's been really noisy today. I don't know what they were doing. It changes all the time. We don't really have a complaint,' one person said. 'We know it's going to go on for years... We've had other builds go on in the street and they've taken years. We're used to that. I'm not going to complain. 'I can't understand why they're doing what they're doing. Why didn't they just live in the old house? Fix it up.' They added: 'The construction and the digging up of the ground, there has been big trucks... We're used to it.' Despite the constant noise and disruption to parking, other neighbours are glad someone has swooped in to fix up the old rundown home. 'It had gotten into a terrible state of disrepair before [Andy] started doing renovations. So it's actually looking better than it has looked for the last ten years,' one said. 'There were squatters there before. I think it's great that he's doing it. I wish it would be finished already. 'I think he's doing a great job. He's obviously not scrimping on costs... It's going to be better than the decrepit house that was there before. I think it's going to be beautiful.' Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Andy and Rebecca for comment. Andy and Rebecca have grand plans for their Italianate manor, with the planned renovation worth an estimated $5million having begun in 2023. The comedian has been hard at work on the derelict Melbourne mansion, called Ravenswood, he bought for $8.5million in 2021, in a Block-style rebuild. The couple won council approval for their development application back in June 2023. Plans for the site include adding a second building which will be connected by a tunnel to the original Italianate mansion, which was built around 1876. Other highlights planned for the 1,950 square metre holding include a home theatre, a gym, a swimming pool and a 'mega bedroom'. In a statement to the Herald Sun, Boroondara Council confirmed it had issued a notice of decision to grant a planning permit for the Yarra Grove address. One neighbour told the Sydney Morning Herald in December the construction cacophony had caused the couple to lose 'a lot of community goodwill'. 'The noise is just horrendous,' the disgruntled neighbour told the publication. 'Some residents just leave—they go away for a week at a time and come back on the weekend.' The publication also reported residents are angry over construction noise which had continued for 26 weeks. The noise was due to piling reinforced steel pillars and it was also reported dust from 'constant' rock breaking, had coated the solar panels on nearby houses.

NWF Lady Raiders head to NJCAA Nationals as No. 3 seed

NICEVILLE, Fla. (WMBB) – The No. 3 Lady Raiders traveled to Yuma, Arizona, after receiving an at-large bid to the 2025 NJCAA Division I Softball World Series. The 56–4 Lady Raiders, three-time Panhandle Conference champions, have been given another shot at a national title after receiving the No. 3 seed as an at-large bid to the 2025 NJCAA Division I Softball World Series. The Lady Raiders are set to face the winner of No. 14 Southern Union State and No. 19 Arizona Western in their opening game. In recent years, Northwest Florida State has made back-to-back deep postseason runs. Last season, the Raiders advanced to the quarterfinals. The year before, they finished as national finalists. Head coach Andy Lee says the team's rigorous schedule — including consistent competition in the Panhandle Conference — has built both experience and confidence. 'We've been preparing all year for this,' Lee said. 'Playing in a tough conference gives our players the edge they need when it's time to compete on the national stage.' The team is led by All-American sophomore Sister Arnold, who has been a standout force this season with 66 runs, 13 home runs, and a .434 batting average. This time around, the goal is simple: bring home the crown. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Tyson Fury's dad rips into son's corner and claims he saved Gypsy King getting KO'd by Oleksandr Usyk

JOHN FURY has blasted his son Tyson's coaching team and claimed he saved him from getting knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk. Fury, 36, lost his undefeated record and WBC belt in a points loss to Usyk, 38, last May and narrowly escaped being stopped in round nine. 4 4 But father John - who came under fire for his corner work in the aftermath of the fight - said he is the sole reason his son was not KOd. John told SecondsOut: "Well, if it wasn't for me in his corner he'd be knocked out. Simple as that. "He was listening to the wrong instructions and got caught going to the left of a southpaw. I'm a southpaw, you don't go to the left on me because I'll catch you. "He was listening to ill-advise, too many people in the corner and I'm his father, if it wasn't for me, he not only stayed in the fight he won the 11th, he shared the tenth because his legs were gone in the tenth. "He was a miracle man to get out the ninth round but it was me who kept him in there. If it had been left to them, he'd have been knocked out." Fury has been coached by Sugarhill Steward - nephew to legendary trainer Emanuel - since 2020 while also having ex-world champion Andy Lee as assistant. But dad and former boxer John fumed: "He was listening to people that haven't got any fighting experience. "And at the end of the day, if he was that good of a trainer, Sugarhill, his uncle Emanuel would have left him the top job, wouldn't he? "He would've left him the full business, Jonathan Banks ended up with it. Why didn't Tommy Hearns have Sugarhill? Why didn't Lenox Lewis have him? "Why didn't all the other Kronk fighters have him? There's a reason for it. Why do all these British fighters have him and sack him? Because he's incapable and I'm the first to say it. "I don't mind the man as a man, I'm talking on boxing terms only. The man is a very nice man, he's never done me no harm in any way shape or form. "But, we're talking boxing politics here and they just don't work Tyson hard enough, he's too soft with him and Tyson's telling him what to do half the time. "And like I say, they're not going to tell him he's wrong because they need the money." Sugarhill has also coached the likes of Ben Whittaker and Lawrence Okolie in the past - later splitting with both. He was mentored by his late uncle Emanuel, who shot to fame as the trainer to the likes of Lewis and Wladimir Klitshcko. But after Emanuel's death in 2012, his former fighter Banks inherited his stable including Klitshcko. Sugarhill has also worked with former world champions in Anthony Dirrell and Adonis Stevenson. And Fury credited the American for turning him into a power-puncher, with two stoppages over Deontay Wilder. The Gypsy King was beaten again by Usyk on points in their December rematch - without dad John in the corner - and retired a month later. But, with rumours of a future fight against Anthony Joshua, 35, Fury recently reunited with Sugarhill in his Morecambe gym to tease a comeback. 4 4
