OTG Workers Represented by UNITE HERE Allege Systematic Wage and Hour Violations at Private Equity Owned Airport Concessionaire
PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OTG food and beverage workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 274, Philadelphia's hospitality workers' union, filed over 50 complaints with the City of Philadelphia, alleging that the company has violated multiple local wage and hour laws. Dozens of OTG workers at the PHL airport filed complaints with the City's Department of Labor, seeking backpay for lost wages and other unpaid compensation. OTG operates more than 350 restaurants across the US and Canada including 15 locations at Philadelphia International Airport. OTG is owned by Duration Capital Partners, LLC, an infrastructure-focused private equity firm. Workers marched through PHL Terminal B with copies of their legal complaints and delivered them to OTG management. The complaints allege that employees were paid less than the applicable minimum wage and that the company is systematically violating Philadelphia's Fair Workweek Law, which requires large employers to provide their employees with predictable work schedules. Dozens of workers filed complaints with the City's Department of Labor, seeking backpay for lost wages and other unpaid compensation. 'We sacrifice to make OTG a success,' said Angela Maldonado, who has worked for the company for six years as a cashier. 'We wake up in the middle of the night to get to work by the time the first passengers arrive. When flights are delayed, we are the ones who stay late. As the mother of a three-year-old, it is not easy, but I figure out a way. It is time for OTG to show they respect us by paying us what we are owed.' 'As the largest food service employer at PHL, we expect OTG to set the standard for what high quality, family sustaining jobs look like,' said Rosslyn Wuchinich, President of UNITE HERE Local 274. 'It is disappointing to see that OTG has fallen short of those expectations.' The union and the employer are currently negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement. Negotiations for the previous contract took more than five years, according to UNITE HERE Local 274. Duration Capital Partners acquired control of OTG after Oaktree Capital Management spun out its infrastructure investment business in July of 2024. Oaktree remains a minority owner of Duration Capital Partners. Three killed in crash on Sunday in Clements
Mar. 18—Investigators believe alcohol played a factor in a Clements collision that killed three people on Sunday afternoon. California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash at about 3:40 p.m. on Highway 12 just east of Clements Road. Reports state that a Ford Fiesta was traveling east on Highway 12 when the driver lost control for unknown reasons and spun into the westbound lanes. A Toyota Tacoma then broadsided the vehicle. The CHP said none of the Ford's occupants were wearing seatbelts. Three of the occupants were killed and two suffered major injuries. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the decedents as 25-year-old Angela Maldonado of Lockeford, 21-year-old Skyy Richardson of Stockton, and 37-year-old Simon Onesavanh, also of Stockton. The Tacoma driver sustained minor injuries, reports state. Officer Josh Case told KCRA Sunday that multiple containers were found inside the Ford. "There was a large amount of open containers of alcohol," he said. "Cans, bottles, there's about, I'd say, approximately 20 or 30 open containers in the Ford Fiesta." Highway 12 was closed for about three hours while officers investigated and crews cleaned up the scene.
