Beyoncé Cowboy Carter Tour opens with surprising ticket price drops and mixed fan reactions

'Cowboy Carter' won album of the year, making it the first time Beyoncé nabbed the award. Photo: File Beyoncé's highly anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour launched Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, but ticket prices unexpectedly dropped in the hours before the show. Tickets that once commanded up to $800 during presales were being resold for as low as $57.50, according to NBC News reporters Angela Yang, Liz Kreutz, and Sossy Dombourian. Thousands of seats remained available through platforms like Ticketmaster. While some shows have seen less dramatic price cuts, fans have reported falling prices across multiple tour dates. The price drop has led to frustration among fans who paid high presale prices, only to see better seats become available at a discount. Ticketmaster's policy, allowing upgrades only for tickets of equal or greater value, prevented many fans from switching to cheaper options. Fans like Jada Rivera and Kira Chase, who traveled from Arizona, expressed dissatisfaction after spending over $1,200 on presale tickets and an additional $300 for upgrades, despite cheaper seats being available in the same section. Online, others, including Paul Poulos Jr., shared similar frustrations, noting the pressure to buy during early sales due to limited availability messaging. Industry expert Dave Clark, editor of explained that aggressive pricing strategies may have contributed to consumer backlash, describing the ticket sale process as unpredictable and expensive. Despite these challenges, many fans, like Kristy Larson, remained excited to see Beyoncé perform live, prioritizing experience over cost.

American Airlines Crash: How U.S. Figure Skating Honored Victims

Originally appeared on E! Online U.S. Figure Skating is mourning an unimaginable loss. After 28 figure skaters, coaches and family members died on American Airlines flight 5342 to Washington, D.C., following a collision with a U.S. Army helicopter over the Potomac River Jan. 29, the sport's national governing body paid tribute to the lives lost. In a Feb. 3 Instagram video, U.S. Figure Skating shared a glimpse into the athletes, aged 11 to 16, and their families who accompanied them following the National Development Camp in Wichita, Kan. Short clips of the skaters played as their names appeared onscreen, including 11-year-old Angela Yang and Sean Kay performing on the ice and high-fiving each other after. (Angela and Sean's moms Zheheng Li and Yulia Kay were also on board.) In another clip, 15-year-old Cory Haynos completed a camel spin on the ice and made a heart sign to the camera afterward. (His parents Stephanie Haynos and Roger Haynos were among the victims.)
