1 dead after semi-truck hits man walking on US Highway 59 in Burke
BURKE, Texas (KETK) – The Angelina County Sheriff's Office said one man has died after he ran into the path of a Kenworth truck tractor on U.S. Highway 59 in Burke on Friday. 74-year-old man killed in single-vehicle crash in Lufkin The sheriff's office said Nathaniel Jared Yinger, 40 of Westminster, MD, apparently left the roadway at around 1 p.m. in a yellow Honda Fit which got stuck in the median to the left of US Highway 59 northbound, just south of Stringer Road. According to a press release from Angelina County Sheriff Tom Selman, evidence gathered at scene indicated that 'Yinger knowingly exited the median on foot where his car was stuck and ran into the inside northbound traffic lane directly in the path of a Kenworth truck tractor/semi-trailer combination transporting a load of passenger cars.' When Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and sheriff's office deputies arrived, Yinger's body was found dead on the highway, Selman's press release stated. They began investigating the scene and Justice of the Peace Precinct Four for Diboll, Judge Rodney Cheshire, arrived to pronounce Yinger dead. The troopers and deputies are currently doing a in-depth inquiry into what might have caused Yinger to go out onto the highway. The Kenworth truck was inspected, no violations were found and the sheriff's office said no charges are expected in this case. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A 21-year-old man from Angelina County has been arrested after admitting to having sexual relations with a minor multiple times, according to an arrest affidavit. Deputies became aware of the situation on May 20 when a woman and her 14-year-old daughter arrived at the Angelina County Sheriff's Office to report that her daughter was a victim of sexual assault over the weekend. Cherino man arrested after early morning crime spree across Nacogdoches County While speaking with a deputy, the victim's mother stated that her daughter had sexual relations twice with a 21-year-old man who had been identified as Bruce Thompson Jr. over the weekend. It was reported that the victim became friends with Thompson over Facebook, and he convinced her to sneak out of her house to have sex with him, according to officials. After speaking with a deputy, the victim was sent to Lufkin to participate in a SANE exam and a forensic interview. During the interview, investigators were able to gather enough evidence to suggest that the victim was sexually assaulted, according to an affidavit. On May 20, after finding his Facebook profile, officials were able to confirm that Thompson currently worked at the Dollar Tree in Diboll, and they were able to obtain his contact information, the affidavit showed. After officials reached out to Thompson, he agreed to meet with them in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree. Authorities searching for man wanted in Nacogdoches County child sexual assault case Once officials arrived at the Dollar Tree, they spotted Thompson parking a green Ford Mustang that matched the description of his car. Once Thompson began to walk towards officials, they noticed scratches on his knees that matched the description that the victim provided of Thompson during her forensic interview, the affidavit stated. Thompson agreed to get into the official's car to do an interview. While in the car, a body camera was placed on the dash of the car and pointed directly at Thompson. Before the interview began, it was explained to Thompson that he was not under arrest. During the interview, Thompson admitted to having sex with the victim on two separate occasions, according to the affidavit. Thompson admitted he had initially sent a picture of his genitals to the victim over Facebook Messenger on May 16, and they agreed to meet up later that night. Thompson went on to state that he picked up the victim from her home, and that he only intended to kiss the victim and hold hands, according to the affidavit. Thompson said he regretted his actions towards the victim. Thompson also spoke about the second encounter, which took place on May 18. Thompson once again picked up the victim from her home and took her to the same place they met the previous time, which was the Dollar Tree. Thompson once again expressed his regret for his actions and stated he cut off communication with the victim later that night, the affidavit revealed. Following the interview, Thompson was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault against a child and is currently being held at Angelina County Jail. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Black Stone Minerals, L.P. Announces New Development Agreement in the Shelby Trough with Revenant Energy and Amended Development Agreements with Aethon Energy
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2025-- Black Stone Minerals, L.P. (NYSE: BSM) ('Black Stone,' 'BSM,' or 'the Partnership') today announces that it has entered into a development agreement with Revenant Energy ('Revenant') with respect to the Partnership's expanded Shelby Trough Haynesville and Bossier acreage, primarily located in Angelina, Nacogdoches, and San Augustine counties in Texas. Separately, the Partnership has agreed to amend the existing development agreements with Aethon Energy ('Aethon') in Angelina and San Augustine counties. As part of this amendment, Aethon will return to the Partnership highly prospective mineral acreage to support and further accelerate another potential development program in the region. Management Commentary Thomas L. Carter, Jr., Black Stone Minerals' Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President, commented, 'We are excited to partner with the Revenant Energy team, whose proven track record of development in the Shelby Trough establishes them as a solid operator for this asset. Through robust subsurface evaluation, we identified substantial areas of prospective minerals outside of the existing Shelby Trough development agreements. This new agreement covers approximately 270,000 gross and 95,000 net undeveloped acres with significant resource potential that we expect to benefit both companies for decades. Additionally, the annual minimum well commitment at full ramp will ultimately about double the net well development of Black Stone's portfolio in the Shelby Trough. The acreage within this agreement comes from both legacy acquisitions and the recent targeted mineral acquisitions, which continue to enhance our existing Shelby Trough footprint. We have also finalized an amendment with Aethon that will release over 50,000 gross acres back to BSM in an area directly offsetting existing development, in exchange for a well commitment reduction. This released acreage provides a strong foundation that we plan to place under another new development agreement, further enhancing our outlook on total development activity in the Shelby Trough. With the combination of these executed agreements, proximity to the Gulf Coast market, and long-term natural gas pricing, we are confident in the growth opportunities the asset provides to our unitholders.' Revenant Development Agreement The Revenant Development Agreement covers approximately 270,000 gross acres across San Augustine, Nacogdoches, Angelina, Houston, and Trinity counties. BSM currently controls approximately 95,000 undeveloped net acres, with line of sight to additional acquisitions, all within this contractual area. The annual well commitments escalate over five years from a minimum of 6 wells per year starting in 2026 to a minimum of 25 wells per year and require test wells in certain areas in order to continue operating across the full footprint. Additionally, BSM expects to bring a non-operated working interest partner into the development. Aethon Amended Development Agreements The Partnership has entered into an amendment to the joint exploration agreements ('JEAs') with Aethon in Angelina and San Augustine counties which reduces the contract area to approximately 210,000 gross acres. Under the terms of the amendment, Aethon will release over 50,000 gross acres from the contract area, in exchange for reducing the annual well commitment to a total of 16 wells across both JEAs. As previously disclosed, the majority of farmout agreements covering non-operated working interests under these JEAs have terminated, and Aethon is absorbing that working interest as part of the amendment. The woman who waved Gersbach down was also interviewed and said the truck had been driving by their home fast multiple times when the victim asked her to stop the truck. The woman explained in the arrest document that they were in an altercation where Gersbach allegedly called kept calling her a 'b*tch' when the victim approached and said 'I'll f**cking shoot your *ss' to Gersbach several times.
