AFFIDAVIT: Lufkin man arrested for murder after speeding dispute ends in shooting
'Dead men can't testify': East Texas judge accused of coercing plea with death threat
According to an on-view arrest complaint, an Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to a call from a man identified as Phillip Hunter Gersbach of Lufkin, who told dispatch that he had shot someone at around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
A deputy responded to the scene after the suspect, identified as Phillip Hunter Gersbach, of Lufkin, called 911 on Wednesday at around 11:15 p.m. and told dispatch he had shot someone. The deputy noticed an unresponsive man on the ground and performed CPR on the victim while Gersbach remained near the patrol unit.
Once the second deputy arrived, they took over chest compressions on the victim while the first deputy took the suspect into custody. The deputy put the suspect in the back seat of her patrol unit to deescalate the situation as a woman at the scene was 'irate and hostile.'
EMS arrived on the scene and declared the man dead at 11:37 p.m. after no pulse could be found. The arrest document states that Gersbach was then read his Miranda rights and interviewed about what happened.
In body camera footage described in Gersbach's arrest complaint, Gersbach stated that he was driving home when a woman stopped him for driving too fast past her home. A man then came up behind her and asked Gersach not to yell at his wife.
Gersbach reportedly stated that he saw the man move something behind his back before pointing it behind Gersbach's headrest and saying he'd shoot.

Gersbach said he felt threatened and shot the victim before he could shoot him through the headrest, according to the arrest document. The woman who waved Gersbach down was also interviewed and said the truck had been driving by their home fast multiple times when the victim asked her to stop the truck.
The woman explained in the arrest document that they were in an altercation where Gersbach allegedly called kept calling her a 'b*tch' when the victim approached and said 'I'll f**cking shoot your *ss' to Gersbach several times. According to the woman, Gersbach shot the victim multiple times while sitting in the vehicle before he got out and shot him 'several more times.'
Angelina County Sheriff's Office investigators then arrived to collect evidence from the scene and Gersbach's clothes. Gersbach was arrested for murder and booked into the Angelina County Jail, where he was released on Thursday after posting a $15,000 bond.

Since Aug. 7, when Trump began surging federal agents into the city, there have been 630 arrests, including 251 people who are in the country illegally, according to the White House. Trump has been ratcheting up the pressure since then, claiming control of the D.C. police department on Aug. 11 and deploying more National Guard troops from Republican-led states. Soldiers have been largely stationed in downtown areas, such as monuments on the National Mall and transit stations. But federal agents have started to operate more widely through the city, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser acknowledged Thursday. 'The surge of federal officers is allowing for different types of deployments, more frequent types of deployments, like checkpoints,' Bowser said. Democrats have denounced the federal crackdown as a political stunt. The law that permits the feds to exercise wide authority over law enforcement in Washington, D.C., says the crackdown can only last for 30 days unless Congress approves an extension. Sen. Man charged with murder after ice cream seller stabbed to death
A man has been charged with murder after an ice cream seller was stabbed to death in north-west London. Shazad Khan, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to reports of an altercation in Monks Park in Wembley at 6.10pm on Tuesday. Zaher Zaarour, 26, of Brent in north-west London, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article, the Metropolitan Police announced on Thursday. He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Friday. A 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to murder – but has been bailed pending further inquiries, the force said. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller said: 'I would like to thank the community for their help and support during this investigation. 'Residents can expect to see an increase of officers in the local area over the next coming days as the investigation continues.' Local residents told the PA news agency that Mr Khan was well known in the area for selling ice creams in a van. Asim Mahmood Butt, 39, who lives in nearby Tokyngton Avenue, said he was childhood friends with the victim. Speaking at the scene on Wednesday, he said: 'I got a call from one of my cousins. 'This guy, we know him – he's a famous ice cream guy. He got stabbed yesterday. 'I came here and his body was still here, and police had cordoned off the area. 'I know his brothers as well – they're all local. We all used to play cricket and football here in Monks Park. 'He started (selling) ice cream about a year ago.' Mr Butt said Mr Khan was married and had a young daughter. The ice cream van, which had been parked on the road at the time of the incident, was well known locally for having a large teddy bear, the witness added.

Lil Nas X hospitalized for possible OD after roaming LA streets in underwear
Lil Nas X has been hospitalized for a possible overdose after strutting in underwear and cowboy boots down Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles early Thursday morning. At around 4 a.m., the 'Old Town Road' rapper, 26, told a bystander, 'Hey, don't be late to the party tonight,' according to cellphone footage obtained by TMZ. 'Go ahead, babe,' the Grammy winner, real name Montero Lamar Hill, told the other man, before continuing to sing and walk along the famed thoroughfare. In subsequent clips, he strikes several poses and tells the other man, 'It's gonna be a beautiful sunrise. Gimme that phone, so I can throw it. I wanna throw it far away, so you never see it again. I don't like phones.' 'Don't miss the party tonight, why are you still here?' he continues. 'You need to be telling everyone about the f–ing party. What's your problem?' Multiple witnesses reported the erratic behavior to Los Angeles Police, according to TMZ. When officers eventually caught up with the 'Star Walkin'' artist, he allegedly 'charged' at them, only to be subdued and handcuffed, sources told the outlet. He was transported to a hospital for a potential overdose, where law enforcement sources say he's still being treated. Though Nas could be charged for the ordeal, it's unclear whether he will be. Representatives for the rapper did not immediately respond to the Daily News' request for comment. Nas was also hospitalized back in April for partial facial paralysis, revealing in a since-deleted post that he'd 'lost control of the right side of [his] face' and couldn't 'even laugh right.' Though the cause has not yet been confirmed, it's been speculated that Nas may have been suffering from Bell's palsy, which causes sudden weakness in the muscles in one side of the face and can make it appear to droop. The condition, whose particular cause is not known, is usually temporary and affects an estimated 40,000 people — across age and sex brackets — in the U.S. each year.
