Mother lets pet Pit Bull ‘chew' son, 6, like a ‘toy' for refusing to pick up dog's waste

A mother in Ohio, United States was sentenced to at least 19 years in prison after her six-year-old son was brutally attacked by a Pit Bull while he was tied up and unable to defend himself. Angelina Williams, 28, was handed the sentence last week by Ashland County Common Pleas Court Judge Dave Stimpert, who told her she allowed her son to be treated like a 'chew toy' for the dog, People reported. Court documents revealed that Williams had restrained her son with handcuffs on his wrists and ankles as punishment for refusing to pick up dog waste with his bare hands. While she was tying him to a chair with rope, the boy fell to the floor and was savaged by a pit bull owned by the homeowner. The dog clamped onto the child's throat, causing deep cuts and severe bruising. The attack only ended when someone managed to pull the animal away. Judge Stimpert, speaking at the sentencing, said: 'That dog tried to rip out his throat. To see the pictures of the bruising around his eyes and his face from the force and the pressure that dog put on his throat, and then to see the wounds on his neck, I'm not sure that there are words that adequately describe it.' After the attack, the homeowner, Robert Michalski Jr, fled the scene with the dog to prevent authorities from seizing the animal, according to the outlet. Williams pleaded guilty in May to charges including kidnapping, obstruction of justice, possessing criminal tools and four counts of child endangerment. She will be credited for the 361 days she has already spent in custody since her arrest last August. The horrific details first came to light during her initial court appearance in 2024. Prosecutors said Williams had taken her two children - the six-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister - to the village of Savannah, where she used handcuffs and ropes to punish them. She even posted a photo of her daughter restrained on social media. Appearing by video from jail, Williams admitted the facts of the case but questioned the judge over her $300,000 bond. 'I feel like that's high. I feel like the dog's not even my dog, the cuffs aren't even my cuffs. I didn't even know that the cuffs were illegal or anything was wrong with it,' she told the judge. She added: 'My uncle told me that it was OK and I never meant any harm, I really didn't.' Thankfully, the boy survived and has since made a full recovery. He and his sister are now living together with a legal guardian and are receiving the care and protection they need. Michalski and another man, Taylor Marvin-Brown, said to be Williams' lover, were also convicted on several charges connected to the case. They will be sentenced later this month. Williams remains in Ashland County Jail but will soon be moved to the Ohio Reformatory for Women to begin her sentence.

A Mother Handcuffed Her Son's Hands and Feet, Then Watched Pit Bull Tear Apart His Throat Like a 'Chew Toy'

Angelina Williams, 28, will serve a minimum of 19 years in prison after her 6-year-old son nearly died in a pit bull attack The boy had both his hands and ankles in handcuffs at the time of the attack because his mother was punishing him for not cleaning up the dog's waste, Williams admitted in court Williams told the judge during her initial court appearance that she thought it was OK to handcuff her children and did not mean any harmThe mother of a 6-year-old boy who had his throat torn apart by a pit bull while he was restrained and unable to fight off the dog was sentenced to prison last week in Ohio. Angelina Williams, 28, will serve at least 19 years in prison according to a copy of the judgment filed in her case and obtained by PEOPLE. Ashland County Common Pleas Court Judge Dave Stimpert reprimanded the mother while handing down the sentence, saying she allowed her son to be treated like a "chew toy" for the animal. This comes after Williams put handcuffs around her son's wrists and ankles while punishing him for refusing to pick up dog waste in the yard with his bare hands, according to a copy of the mother's indictment. She was then in the process of tying her son to a chair with rope, according to the indictment, when he fell to the ground — and the pit bull owned by the homeowner savagely attacked the boy. That attack left the boy with severe lacerations on his neck after the pit bull clamped down on his throat and refused to let go. Once the pit bull was pulled off the boy, the home's owner, Robert Michalski, Jr., quickly fled the scene with the dog to avoid the animal being removed from his custody, according to the indictment. In May, Williams entered guilty pleas to charges of kidnapping, obstruction of justice, possessing criminal tools and four counts of child endangerment just days before her trial was set to start. She will receive credit for the 361 days she has spent in jail, having been held without bail since her arrest back in August of last year. "That dog tried to rip out his throat," Stimpert said at Williams' sentencing hearing. "To see the pictures of the bruising around his eyes and his face from the force and the pressure that dog put on his throat, and then to see the wounds on his neck, I'm not sure that there are words that adequately describe it."Details of the incident were first revealed during Williams' first court appearance back in 2024. An attorney with the Ashland County Prosecuting Attorney's Office told the judge that Williams had taken her two children — the 6-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter — to spend time in Savannah, a village of just 300 people located approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland. During that visit, Williams started using handcuffs and ropes to discipline the children, and even posted an image of her restrained daughter on social media at one point. Williams confirmed these facts to be true while appearing via video from the Ashland County Jail, but then questioned the judge when her bond was set at $300,000. "I feel like that's high. I feel like the dog's not even my dog, the cuffs aren't even my cuffs. I didn't even know that the cuffs were illegal or anything was wrong with it," Williams told the judge. She went on to say: "My uncle told me that it was OK and I never meant any harm, I really didn't." The young boy miraculously made a full recovery and he and his sister are "residing together in the care of a legal custodian where they are receiving appropriate support and protection." Michalski and another man, Taylor Marvin-Brown, who prosecutors say was Williams' lover, were also convicted on multiple charges for their involvement in the attack. They are set to be sentenced later this month. Williams remains in the Ashland County Jail but will be transferred to the Ohio State Reformatory for Women to serve her sentence. Ashland County mother whose 6-year-old son was attacked by family dog while handcuffed sentenced to prison

ASHLAND, Ohio (WJW) — The mother of a 6-year-old boy who was handcuffed and attacked by a family dog last year was sentenced to prison Monday, according to Ashland County Court of Common Pleas records. Angelina Williams, 28, was sentenced to 20-plus years in prison for an incident that took place Aug. 17 at a Savannah, Ohio, home in Ashland County. She previously pleaded guilty to seven felony charges, including child endangerment, kidnapping and obstructing justice. Williams is serving consecutive prison terms adding up to between 23 and 28 and a half years, according to court documents. Local teen accused of raping mother and daughter Prosecutors said Williams, her boyfriend and uncle handcuffed the boy by the ankles and wrists as a form of discipline since the child refused to clean up after the dog. The boy somehow slipped when the adults were trying to put him in a chair and the dog attacked, officials said. Ashland sheriff's department video (as seen in the video player at the top of the story) shows deputies providing first aid to the child, who was then taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The boy had reportedly been bit on the neck and ear, but was eventually released from the hospital. Williams lost custody of the two children in 2019. In a court appearance in August, Williams told a judge she did not know it was illegal to use handcuffs on a child. 'The dog is not even my dog. The cuffs are not even my cuffs,' Williams said in court. ' I didn't even know the cuffs were illegal or anything was wrong with it. My uncle told me it was OK.' Co-defendants Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown and the owner of the dog, Robert Michalski — both charged with child endangering among other things — are being sentenced on July 14 and July 21 respectively, court records show. Mum bragged about handcuffing son, 6, and letting Pitbull 'use him as chew toy'

Angelina Williams, 28, faces more than 28 years in prison after she admitted guilt over handcuffing her six-year-old son and sending photos of him in distress to others via social media A mother who handcuffed her six-year-old son and let a Pitbull use him as a "chew toy" bragged about abusing her child. Angelina Williams, 28, from Cleveland, Ohio, pleaded guilty to charges including kidnapping and endangering children during a court session on Monday. She will spend consecutive prison terms that amount to between 23 and 28-and-a-half years, following the Ashland County Common Pleas Court ruling over the August 17 incident. ‌ Williams handcuffed two children. The boy, six at the time, was mauled by a dog, with his 8-year-old sister also bound. The children had been visiting their mum over a two-week period in Savannah. Ohio. Ashland County Assistant Prosecutor Matt Metcalf said the children were forced to pick up dog excrement in the back garden during their stay. ‌ The prosecution said when the children did not want to do it, they were "punished" and handcuffed to chairs. Williams also sent photos of her daughter while handcuffed to friends on the social media platform Snapchat, the court heard. "I've heard and seen some terrible things," Judge Dave Stimpert told the court, according to outlet Ashland Source. "(The child) was handcuffed and the Pitbull used him as a chew toy. And the adults made up a story to cover their butts." He continued: "Except using him as a chew toy is putting it very lightly. That dog tried to rip out his throat. To see the pictures of the bruising around his eyes and face from the force of pressure that that dog put on his throat, and to see the wounds on his neck? I'm not sure there are words that adequately describe that." Williams, who has been behind bars at the Ashland County Jail for 316 days, cried as Judge Stimpert spoke. The judge continued: "You're the child's mother. ‌ "With that comes the duty to protect your children. I don't know any mother would think handcuffing a child's hands and feet is a good idea, period. Yet not only did it, you do it multiple times, you shared photos of it, essentially bragging about it." Williams said in a statement before being sentenced: "Not only was it wrong, but it's caused mental and emotional trauma to my children that will probably haunt them for the rest of their lives. That is something I never intended to happen, and something I'll never forgive myself for." Three others were also involved in the incident, with Robert Michalski Jr, 48, from Savannah, being found partially guilty by the jury in June. He was the owner of the Pitbull. The court heard the Pitbull had been put down following the incident. Michalski Jr was convicted of complicity to endanger a minor and a single count of tampering with evidence. He is due to be sentenced on July 21. Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown, 29, of Sandusky, pleaded guilty to several charges which included kidnapping, endangering children, and obstructing justice and possessing criminal tools. He was also described as Williams' "paramour" and is due to be sentenced on July 14.
