Netflix fans hail newly added World War 2 film
Netflix fans have been left stunned by a newly added World War 2 drama film, branding it 'the most powerful and heartbreaking thing you'll ever see.' Directed by Hollywood star Angeline Jolie, the plot of the gripping thriller Unbroken follows the life of Olympian Louis Zamperini after a near-fatal plane crash during the Second World War. Based on a real story, the retelling tracks the 47 days Zamperini spent in a raft at sea alongside two crewmen, before he was found by the Japanese navy. Despite his long struggle for survival, the US Olympic track record holder was sent to a camp for prisoners of war. It stars Jack O'Connell , Miyavi and Domhnall Gleeson, and has won 14 awards from an impressive 33 nominations. Now, the 2014 film has once again gained traction after the streaming platform added it to their available movies. And it's in part due to the raving review of TikToker Eccy's Reviews, who has urged Netflix users to watch the awe-inspiring rendition of a true tale. Known for sharing streaming recommendations with his social media followers, he insists the film will leave watchers 'speechless.' 'You have to watch this true story on Netflix immediately,' he said. 'I promise you that this will be one of the most powerful and unbelievable things that you will ever watch. 'I went into it completely blind and by the end of it, I was speechless. What this guy went through and how strong he is as a human being, it is one of the most heartbreaking things that I have ever watched. 'I promise you that this story will stick with you. You will never, ever forget this film, so please get it on your watch list.' Having taken him up on the advice, film fans rushed to the comments to sing the movie's praises. 'Absolutely brilliant movie, I have watched it about five times,' wrote one. 'Jack O'Connell should have received an Oscar - love it.' Another echoed the sentiment, writing: 'Omg what an amazing film, but a very sad watch.' 'Seen it, it was brilliant, I watched it twice,' a third said,' while a fourth chimed in: 'I watched it, it was a great movie.' 'I watched this and it is brilliant,' another said simply. At the time, Jolie was relatively new to directing, and admitted she felt in over her head while working on the epic project. 'I didn't know what I was up against when I was first getting into it,' the then 39-year-old said. Angelina elaborated that working in dangerous settings and with such intense material certainly proved difficult. 'I had never done anything like it,' the mother of six said. 'I was up for the challenge, but I had so much to learn.' One such learning moment was when the star was filming scenes in the Pacific off of the coast of Queensland, Australia. She was trying to film key scenes with her star Jack O'Connell, as he bobbed away in the ocean, helplessly, to the point where the director almost couldn't even see him. 'If you saw that first shot and my reaction to it, you'd be absolutely sure that this was going to be one of the great disasters of filmmaking history,' she said. 'The only thing you could do was laugh at how insane this was all going to be. And then you just had to take a deep breath and figure out what to do next.' Zamperini's life was chronicled in Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 book Unbroken, which Angelina adapted, and also tells of Louis's two years of imprisonment, struggle with alcoholism and years as an inspirational speaker following overcoming his difficult past. The world premiere took place in Australia in November, 2014, where Angelina was spotted with her then-husband Brad Pitt.
