Charlie Sheen now - HIV update, 'dire' money woes and cheap fan videos
Charlie Sheen seemed to be on top of the world as one of the best-paid actors in Hollywood, but behind the scenes he was dealing with an HIV diagnosing and a crushing drugs habit Charlie Sheen used to be one of the most successful actors on the planet, raking in millions for his roles in sitcoms and films. Starting out in the 1980s, the New York -born actor had decades of success and was even honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - but it all came crashing down in 2011 when his mental health and drug issues spiralled out of control. At the peak of his career, Charlie, now 59, got a very cushty job as the leading man in the CBS show Two and a Half Men, for which he was eventually paid a whopping £1.3million per episode. But suddenly, everything fell apart and he was fired from the show and blacklisted from the rest of Hollywood. After taking a break from the show to go to rehab, Charlie demanded a 50 percent pay rise and branded boss Chuck Lorre"a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I'd never want to be like." Needless to say, the move got Charlie sacked - but it did nothing to slow him down as he admitted to taking more drugs "than anyone could survive" in the aftermath of the axing. After his sacking and a failed stint in sitcom Anger Management, work soon dried up for Charlie, with one studio executive claiming the star had become 'uninsurable'. Then in 2015, the cause of Charlie's behaviour became clear when the he revealed he'd secretly been diagnosed with HIV four years earlier. Having squandered 'millions' to keep blackmailers quiet, the father-of-five admitted he used drugs and booze to cope with diagnosis. "It was the only tool I had at the time, so I believed that would quell a lot of that angst. A lot of that fear. And it only made it worse," he said. "It was to suffocate the anxiety and what my life was going to become with this condition and getting so numb I didn't think about it." So what is Charlie up to these days? Despite the fallout of his career and major tension in his family, he found love again in 2017 with model Julia Stambler, 32 - who also happened to be the nanny for his twin boys Max and Bob. According to TMZ, Julia told a friend she was 'not scared' of Charlie's diagnosis and that they were taking anti-viral medication and using protection as part of an active sex life. Charlie also shares daughter Cassandra, 40, with his high school girlfriend, daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 19, with Denise Richards and 17-year-old twin boys Max and Bob with Brooke Mueller, from whom he split in 2010 a year after being charged with misdemeanour assault against her. But while his romantic life was on the up, his fiscal life had taken a nose dive and Charlie was threatened with losing his Beverly Hills mansion over a reported unpaid £60,000 mortgage bill. Desperate to shift the luxe property, Charlie slashed £3.4million off the original asking price, accepting an offer of £6.4million on the seven-bedroom home earlier this year. He also went to court in 2018 to seek a reduction in his child support payments to ex-wives Brooke and Denise Richards, explaining that he was in a 'dire financial crisis'. In court documents obtained by The Blast, he said he had "been unable to find steady work, and [has] been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry". In 2020, he started selling personalised greetings for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations through the Cameo website at a bargain price of £332. However, in terms of his health, life has never been better. After years of battling addiction, Charlie finally got sober in 2017 after being unable to drive his daughter to an appointment because he'd been drinking. "It just hit me that I knew it was time to make a change - and you know, it didn't require some crazy rehab stint or a shootout with the cops. It didn't require anything super-dramatic and crazy and front-page news," he said. "To this day, I am not sure how I created such chaos and wound up in that headspace. It's as though there was some alien or demonic possession going on." As for what the future holds, for Charlie, his health is what matters the most. "I try not to think too far down the line, you know?" he told US Weekly. "I made some changes to give myself a shot to do some cool things professionally. And I'm proud of finally being consistent. And reliable. And noble." He said his HIV viral load is now 'undetectable'. While focusing on his health, Charlie's life is still full of ups and downs. He hit headlines when he shared his true feelings about his daughter Sami making adult content on OnlyFans, and shocked fans in 2023 when it emerged that his neighbour had strangled him after a longstanding feud. However, he also seems to be getting back on the acting horse again, reuniting with former boss Chuck Lorre for a recurring guest role in the comedy series Bookies - suggesting that the years of bad blood might have come to an end.

Amy Poehler reveals she shared a dressing room with Meryl Streep during 'SNL50'
Amy Poehler revealed her experience sharing a dressing room with Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep during "SNL50: The Anniversary Special" on Monday. Appearing on Conan O'Brien's podcast"Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend" on Monday, while the pair swapped celebrity encounters during the "SNL50" festivities, Poehler revealed her unexpected dressing room companion. "There were so many people that people had to share dressing rooms," Poehler told O'Brien. "So, I was sharing my dressing room with Meryl Streep. Just like a fan, I was taking a picture of the door that said my name and Meryl Streep." She went on to describe watching the legendary actress prepare for her "SNL" debut. "She was getting ready for her sketch and really rehearsing it and I remember thinking, 'I have never rehearsed as hard as Meryl Streep has in this one moment,'" Poehler added. Streep made her first-ever "SNL" appearance during the anniversary special's "Close Encounter" sketch joining Kate McKinnon, Woody Harrelson, and Pedro Pascal at the Pentagon to discuss their alien encounters. The recurring skit follows McKinnon's character, Colleen Rafferty, as she vividly recounts bizarre and often suggestive alien abductions — while manspreading and smoking a cigarette. For the anniversary special, Streep played Colleen Rafferty Sr., the equally unfiltered mother who also had raunchy run-ins with extraterrestrials. Known for making co-stars break character, McKinnon may have met her match in Streep, who stole the show. Poehler also found herself sitting next to Jack Nicholson in the audience during the star-studded evening. The Oscar-winning actor introduced his "Anger Management" co-star Adam Sandler's performance in the show. "In the seats, which was a night of all famous alumni and people, I sat down and turned to my left and it was Jack Nicholson," Poehler said. "I was like, 'Of course. My old friend, my dear friend Jack Nicholson.'"

Jack Nicholson reached out to ex Anjelica Huston when her home was threatened in LA wildfires
Jack Nicholson was ready to support his ex, Anjelica Huston, during the recent LA wildfires. Huston revealed Nicholson reached out when she was evacuating from her home last month in a recent interview with The Guardian. "I was in a car with three dogs, two cats, and the housekeeper, and he called and asked if I was all right, and if I had someplace I was staying," she told the outlet. "That's the bottom line with he and I – when the chips are down, he's there," she said. Huston's home survived, but it was a close call. "My house almost burned down. It came very, very close. My electricity and water and power are still off, but we were safe," she said. The 73-year-old was able to flee to a ranch she owns – home to seven donkeys, six horses and numerous dogs and cats. Nicholson and Huston were in an on-again-off-again relationship for 17 years, from 1973 to 1990, starring in three films together, "Prizzi's Honor," "The Last Tycoon" and "The Postman Always Rings Twice." The actor was unfaithful throughout the relationship and things ended for good in 1990 when he fathered a child with another woman. Looking back on their relationship, Huston said, "I loved him. I think in the world that I was living in, it wasn't disrespectful. It was how he was, and it wasn't so personal. I think as soon as I clocked that, it was all right, I knew how to protect myself. It didn't make me happy, but I knew what I was doing." "I did what I wanted to do, and I did it with sureness," she continued. "If I wanted something, I knew how to go after it, so it wasn't as though anything was being done to me. I wasn't a wilting flower." "That's the bottom line with he and I – when the chips are down, he's there." Huston married sculptor Robert Graham in 1992, staying with him until his death in 2008. Nicholson has a reported six children altogether: Jennifer Nicholson, 59, whom he shares with his first and only wife Sandra Knight, Caleb Goddard with Susan Anspach, Honey Hollman, 42, with model Winnie Hollman (though he has never formally acknowledged paternity), Lorraine and Ray Nicholson with actress Rebecca Broussard, and Tessa Gourin, who claims she is the actor's illegitimate daughter with Jennie Gourin, though he has never publicly addressed the claim. The 87-year-old made his first public appearance in two years during the "SNL" 50th celebration special earlier this month, with his daughter Lorraine. He was on hand to introduce Adam Sandler, with whom he starred in the 2003 film "Anger Management." "Yeah, baby! Let's hear it for Jack, baby! Jack made it out tonight! Love you, brother," Sandler said from the mic.

Dan Aykroyd shares verdict on SNL50 after skipping anniversary special
Dan Aykroyd has hailed the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special as 'triumphant' after deciding not to attend the star-studded event. Aykroyd was a member of the original SNL cast in 1975, along with the likes of Chevy Chase, John Belushi and Gilda Radner. On X he sent his congratulations to the sketch comedy show's longtime producer Lorne Michaels, writing: 'All Heads up toasting triumphant SNL 50th. Advantage of not attending - got to see every second of concert and show on TV. 'Quote from my children: 'Look at daddy's smile!' Had it from start to finish. Congratulations Lorne. Well done as usual.' According to a representative, Aykroyd had 'prior commitments.' Before the show, Aykroyd had tweeted: 'Cracking a Head with pride at having been a co-founder of SNL along with everyone we were together with in those four years, five decades ago. 'This telecast is as historical as the next moon landing. Comedy stars of our age all gathered under the aegis of America's greatest living impresario, my boss Lorne Michaels. People it's friggin' Holy!!' Aykroyd wasn't the only notable name to miss the festivities. Dana Carvey reportedly came down with a 'bad flu' and was too sick to attend, while Bill Hader had a 'longstanding scheduling conflict.' A galaxy of stars did turn out to the event, with Jack Nicholson making a rare appearance. The reclusive actor and Hollywood icon is rarely seen in public and was only spotted for the first time in years in a rare family photo last month. Nicholson was joined by his daughter Rebecca Broussard. From his seat in the audience, The Shining star introduced a performance by Adam Sandler. The actors starred in 2003 film Anger Management together. 'Ladies and gentleman, Adam Sandler,' Nicholson, who was wearing a New York Yankees beret and purple tinted shades, said. 'Yeah, baby! Let's hear it for Jack, baby,' Sandler said before singing his ballad and ode to SNL. 'Jack made it out tonight. Love you, brother,' he added. Other surprise appearances at Sunday's SNL event included Ryan Reynolds, who joked about the scandal involving his wife Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Reynolds and Lively's appearance at the special was their first public showing amid the ongoing It Ends With Us scandal, which has seen both Lively and the film's director and co-star Baldoni file respective lawsuits against each other. Meanwhile, earlier in the weekend, Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer encouraged beefing rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake to 'hug it out' as they reprised their roles as music teachers the Culps.
