3,800 Meat Packs Distributed in Hang Tuah Jaya Qurban
MELAKA: A total of 3,800 packs of meat were distributed during 'Ibadah Korban Perdana' (Grand Qurban Ceremony) held by the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration. Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim said 15 cows were sacrificed and the meat was distributed to recipients including the underprivileged group (asnaf), single mothers, senior citizens, B40 families, and local residents. 'The qurban ritual is not only about fulfilling religious obligations but also symbolises compassion and solidarity within the community. 'These are the values we aim to cultivate in Hang Tuah Jaya, ensuring that no one is left out from experiencing the joy and blessings of Aidiladha,' he said in a statement today. Adam Adli, who is also the Member of Parliament for Hang Tuah Jaya, said the initiative also reflected the constituency's efforts to strengthen the spirit of unity and communal care in line with the Malaysia MADANI principles, which emphasise empathy, inclusivity and social well-being. 'We also extend our thanks to all parties involved, especially the staff and volunteers who arrived as early as 8.30 am to ensure the smooth execution of the sacrificial ritual, meat processing, and distribution,' he added. The ceremony, organised by the Hang Tuah Jaya Parliamentary Service Centre, was held at Dataran Mat Riau, Bukit Baru, involving around 120 members and volunteers from Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK).

Kelantan govt must take sex crimes against children more seriously, says PKR youth delegate
JOHOR BARU: The Kelantan government should treat sexual crimes against children as a serious matter rather than just brushing off the facts, says a PKR youth delegate from the state. Rantau Panjang PKR division youth chief Mohamad Ezzat Zahrim Mohd Hanuzi said the Kelantan police chief recently revealed that the number of rape cases in the state increased last year from 2023. 'However, a state assemblyman denied the police statement. 'How can you, as an assemblyman from an Islamist party, brush that off? You should be ensuring the safety of children,' he said during the debate portion of the central PKR youth wing congress at a hotel here on Friday (May 23). He urged the Kelantan government to be more self-aware and make a greater effort to tackle sexual crimes against children and protect the underage. Ezzat Zahrim also highlighted issues faced by secondary school students stemming from family problems. Sharing his recent engagement with Form Two and Form Three students at a school in Kelantan, he said the young have been exposed to pornography, premarital sex, ketum and substance abuse. 'I am sure this is not a Kelantan issue but it is happening elsewhere, too. This is a pressing social issue. 'This calls for basic sex education in schools,' he added. Youth delegate Aljakalil Biou from the Tenom division in Sabah said political stability under the unity government had been beneficial to the state. 'Sabah is known for party hopping, but with the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, there is stability. 'The issue that is important to Sabahans is the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). 'In just three years, almost all the MA63 matters have been realised, except for a handful –but that is more than what was done before this, and this is because of political stability,' he said in his speech. Elections for the PKR central leadership council, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (youth) leadership council and Wanita PKR leadership council were conducted from 8am to 5pm Friday, with the results to be announced on Saturday (May 24).

PKR polls: Youth wing must be a key part of nation-building, says Adam Adli
JOHOR BARU: PKR's Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) members have been told to use the youth wing as a forum for young people to contribute to national development. AMK chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim (pic) said every member must proactively encourage youths' involvement in nation-building efforts. "Reflect on what (you) can contribute, whether small or big. This is my challenge to you. Don't wait for instructions, for a position, or for a title. "Take a different approach. Diligently continue our advocacy work, think of new policies and strategies and open important discourses, especially on the fate of the youth,' he said here on Friday (May 23). He was delivering his keynote address as AMK chief in conjunction with the movement's national congress, themed "Membangun Madani, Menuju Reformasi'. The event was also attended by PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and AMK deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who is also the political secretary to the Finance Minister. Adam Adli, who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, said AMK members must equip themselves with knowledge of world affairs. "We are the youth wing to the ruling party… in general terms, the main business of a political party is to win elections. "As a ruling party, our responsibility now goes beyond just contesting and winning elections. "Develop the country as well as its people and meet the responsibilities and hopes placed on us, not just fulfil election pledges," he said. The Hang Tuah Jaya MP Member of Parliament added that AMK must also actively train its members as future leaders. "Identify hidden talents, organise discussions and teach about the party's values and history. "Don't just be proud to have many followers but imbue them with the party's spirit. "We must emerge as the hope of the people ... so that they will have confidence in us," he said, adding that AMK now has more than 260,000 members in over 190 divisions nationwide. Voting for the party's central leadership positions, as well as the AMK and Wanita PKR (women's wing) leadership councils, is ongoing today and will conclude at 5pm. The results will be officially announced on Saturday (May 24). – Bernama
