Chinese medical team offers free healthcare to over 200 orphans in Tanzania's Zanzibar
DAR ES SALAAM, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The 34th batch of the Chinese medical team in Tanzania's Zanzibar provided free medical care on Saturday to more than 200 orphans and staff members at a local orphanage under a program called "Angles' Care Initiative."
Chinese doctors from various departments, including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and dentistry, conducted comprehensive physical examinations for both the children and staff.
The Chinese medical team detailed diagnoses and instructed orphanage staff on proper follow-up care and treatment protocols for those with medical concerns. After the checkups, team members distributed gifts, including school supplies, soccer balls, and snacks, to the children.
"Seeing the children's joyful smiles makes all our efforts worthwhile," said Chen Wei, leader of the Chinese medical team. "Through this activity, we hope not only to safeguard their health, but also to let them feel love from afar, encouraging them to face life bravely and chase their dreams."
Mariam Khalfan, a medical liaison officer with the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Chinese medical team for their continuous support of Zanzibar.
Chinese doctors brought warmth and hope to Zanzibar's orphans, planting seeds of friendship that continue to strengthen the relationship between the two sides, Khalfan added.
