Mallampodur ZP School students celebrate unity and creativity with handmade rakhis

Nagpur: In a heart warming display of creativity, students of Mallampodur ZP School in Bhamragadh have embraced the tradition of making and exchanging rakhis, transcending traditional gender roles and fostering a sense of community within the school premises.
Principal Anita Meshram took the initiative and saw enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls, who crafted rakhis using simple materials such as paper, cotton, and cloth. The activity, which took place in the lead-up to the
Raksha Bandhan
festival, was not just about celebrating a cultural tradition but also about promoting inclusivity and mutual respect among students.
Meshram emphasized the importance of the activity, stating, "Our aim was to ensure that students understand the value of respect and equality.
By having both boys and girls make and exchange rakhis, we are teaching them that these values transcend gender."
In a unique twist to the tradition, boys also tied rakhis to their teachers, symbolizing respect and gratitude. This gesture was warmly received by the teaching staff, who appreciated the students' efforts and the spirit of camaraderie it fostered.
Teachers Shital Salve and Sagar Soyam played pivotal roles in organizing the event, ensuring that every student participated. "We wanted to create an environment where students could express their creativity and work together as a team," said Salve. "The process of making rakhis allowed them to explore their artistic skills while also learning the importance of collaboration."
Sagar Soyam added, "Activities like these are crucial in developing the social and emotional skills of students. It was wonderful to see them engage with each other and break down barriers."
